Concerning Hoya's recent comments about his "take it or leave it" offer to Golovkin for 10 millions to face Canelo, most folks seem to have forgotten an obvious point: Canelo isn't as good a fighter as he likes to advertise.
Many point out that Golovkin is already old and will start to decline soon, so he might as well accept the low ball offer of fishnets.
They're forgetting that, at this point in time, Canelo's more in danger of losing than Golovkin is.
Canelo has benefited from his youth to gain a size advantage and fight into a unnatural division.
He already has struggled at light middle with Lara and Cotto, and refused to face the best fighters there like the Charlo brothers and Andrade.
All the contrary of Gennady, who would have faced the best had he competed in that division, and more than likely would have won.
Now, as he's starting to age, he will be forced to fight at middleweight, where things are going to be much tougher.
One bad performance against fighters like Lemieux, Jacobs, or any top 10 contender, will see his stock take a dive.
Thus, it's Canelo's stock which is the more likely to go down, not Gennady's.
It's him who needs to capitalize on his fame, as long as it's still there.
Gennady's there for the long haul when it comes to pound for pound, contrary to Canelo.
Canelo isn't as good a fighter as he pretends to be
Re: Canelo isn't as good a fighter as he pretends to be
Sounds like a good reason for DLH to make a lowball offer and for Golovkin to accept it. If I was Golovkin and I was sure that I would beat Alvarez, I would take pretty much anything they offered me, because having that win on my resume would itself be worth tens of millions of dollars.crow wrote:They're forgetting that, at this point in time, Canelo's more in danger of losing than Golovkin is.
The best fighters are Lara and Mayweather, and he actually did fight them. Also, I don't think he really struggled with Cotto.crow wrote:He already has struggled at light middle with Lara and Cotto, and refused to face the best fighters there like the Charlo brothers and Andrade.
Yeeeaahh, just like how Mayweather's fame was about to run out when he was Saul's age. He only had 12 more years of prime left.crow wrote:It's him who needs to capitalize on his fame, as long as it's still there.
The long haul? Golovkin is 34.5. He has like maybe 2 years of prime left.crow wrote:Gennady's there for the long haul when it comes to pound for pound, contrary to Canelo.

I and everybody in boxing know that Canelo cannot handle fighter's that have good leg/hand speed mover's are Canelo worst nightmare's he isn't P4P number 1 surely
Re: Canelo isn't as good a fighter as he pretends to be
Canelo is no different than Saunder, Jacobs, and Eubank... He's a duck maestro... They all know GGG would likely knock them out... There is no organization in Boxing to force you to fight anyone... Boxers just FO and fight anyone they damned feel like who they can beat like a drum... It took the WBC 6 years to strip the Lineal World Champion... At that rate you'll never get competitive fights -- or very few of them.
A tennis player has to beat all the winners until he get to the title round... He has no choice... A golfer has to beat everyone else on the leaderboard If he wants to win the Championship... It took 7 years to make May-Pac, but the fight fell dead flat -- because 1 of the fighters hid an injury because of the 200-million he knew he would earn.. He basically sold his soul and fkd the fans big time.. There are so many great fights that could be made and they're not made when they should be made.. The Lomachenko-Walters and Kovalev-Ward fights are tremendous matchups.. I can barely believe we'll see competitive fights like this.
Now we need Kovalev-Beterbiev... GGG-Canelo... Joshua-Ortiz... Joshua-Fury... Joshua Klitschko... Joshua-Haye... Joshua-Wilder... Spence-Thurman... Thurman-Garcia... Spence-Porter... Pacquiao-Crawford... Spence-Pacquiao... Brook-Lara... Brook-Spence... GGG-Jacobs... GGG-Saunders... GGG Eubank... GGG-Ramirez... GGG-Kovalev... Russell-Santa Cruz... Russell-Frampton... Russell-Selby... Lomachenko-Salido... Rigondeaux-Quigg... Jacobs-Eubank... Ortiz-Wilder... Parker-Fury... Wilder-Fury... Lomachenko-Vargas
What's wrong with good fights??? And signing them in a timely fashion??? ... Instead of mismatches, pablum, and dreary affairs nobody wants to see???

Gennady is a PFP elite fighter in his division, and will remain so for the next 2 years.
Canelo hasn't proved anything at middle, we don't know at all how he's going to perform there, much less if he's going to dominate as he did at super-welter.
If he's not going to, then bye-bye PPV!

Re: Canelo isn't as good a fighter as he pretends to be
The funny thing is GGG style will actually suit Canelo but then again Canelo knows it won't be one way traffic when getting hit like it was against Mayweather when Canelo showed how good at being a wicket keeper he was by catching every thing throw at him by TBE........He knows he will have to test out GGG power sooner rather then later if he was in the opposite corner.
Re: Canelo isn't as good a fighter as he pretends to be
Canelo didn't dominate at Super Welter. He has to very very close wins vs Trout and Lara, and was totally schooled by a welterweight (Floyd)crow wrote:You're proving my point with this post.Lackeos wrote:Yeeeaahh, just like how Mayweather's fame was about to run out when he was Saul's age.
