Ward/Kovalev Betting Odds
Re: Ward/Kovalev Betting Odds
No chance kov is getting stopped. The extra weight ward has put on has slowed his feet, reduced his punch volume and has done nothing to his punch power. If he wins it will be a decision.

agreed Ward can only win by decision. To me a 50/50 fight I would always go against the non puncher.lazboy wrote:No chance kov is getting stopped. The more entertaining the more the fight is in Kovalev favor and vise versa.lazboy wrote:world ranked wrote:agreed Ward can only win by decision. As for whether it's entertaining, that's 50/50 to. Could great boxing purist wise, both men can box, or could be desperation and power on display in the later rounds and or could be frustration with clinches and premature stopping and breaking apart of in-fighting.
Re: Ward/Kovalev Betting Odds
God I hope kovalev wins. I wonder what would happen to his career if he didn't. You'd hope there'd be a rematch but would ward risk that. Would kovalev just pack it in after getting a pay day. I just want to see him continue to krush, love his fight style.world ranked wrote:The more entertaining the more the fight is in Kovalev favor and vise versa.lazboy wrote:world ranked wrote: agreed Ward can only win by decision. I don't care who wins. I just hope the winner gets full credit from the fans.lazboy wrote:God I hope kovalev wins. I wonder what would happen to his career if he didn't. Re: Ward/Kovalev Betting Odds
I see that keithmoonhangover wants to know what kind of odds he can get from a poster on a Ward victory by stoppage.
Boxing_rocks gave him some weird percentage formula that makes about as much sense as most of his opinions.
But officially, at most sports books, you can get +700 if you fancy that Ward will stop that oh-so-scary Russian crusher.
Ward, by the way is slightly better than a 6-5 favorite (-125) to win the bout outright. You can get even money on Kovey.
Further examination of the current odds show that Ward is +110 to win by decision, while Kovalev will return a solid +500 to cop a win by decision.
The Russian is +200 to win by KO, so overall the odds suggest that Kovalev can score a KO in this bout, but if it goes the distance then
Ward is a safe bet to take the decision.
That kind of flies in the face of those who argue that Kovalev will be the more aggressive, busier fighter and can even win the fight by decision.
But the long odds on Kovalev winning a decision indicates that while Kovalev will be busier, he'll be missing just about everything while Ward counters with short, accurate shots.

Re: Ward/Kovalev Betting Odds
If it makes you warm and cozy, you can rely on those odds. Kova is gonna comfortably win the fight, most likely by stoppage. If I could legally bet here in U.S., I would definitely use those ridiculous odds.SenorPipino wrote:I see that keithmoonhangover wants to know what kind of odds he can get from a poster on a Ward victory by stoppage.

I agree with the OP about John David Jackson.
He will be familiar with all of Ward's tricks and illegal tactics, and may have Sergey well-prepared for the dirty stuff.
He'll be motivated too, this fight will make him famous as a trainer if Kovalev wins.

I was just reporting the actual odds, BR.
I didn't do it to feel all warm and cozy.
You can bet on whoever you want and it won't hurt my feelings.
It was just informational. If you want to bet, try an internet sports book and open up an account.
Or go to Las Vegas where you can legally wager.
I'll be betting in Mexico, where the odds are currently pick 'em.
Disfrute la pelea (Enjoy the fight)

I hope you don't disappear from this forum until you come back and admit you were totally wrong about the outcome of this fight. I certainly will admit I am wrong if that proves to be the case as well.boxing_rocks wrote:Except you can't hit when you are laying face down on canvaskeithmoonhangover wrote:Ward is an absolute banker in this fight. Kovalev isn't difficullt to hit and Ward has barely lost a round in his whole career. FREE MONEY.
Layoffs seem to be one of the main reasons folks think Ward is rusty, and he has slowed, etc. Guys like him that are in the gym often regardless of fights, often come back more refreshed. Look at Floyd after almost 2yrs off, coming back to take on the #2pfp guy JMM, without a tune up, and totally schooling him. Ward will win this fight, and imo will prove that Kovalev as not an unbeatable monster like some dumb asses believe.

Yes, I will be available to see your admission of being wrong. People think that Ward is rusty and slowed down, because he looked so in his last 3 fights.Badhusker wrote:I hope you don't disappear from this forum until you come back and admit you were totally wrong about the outcome of this fight. Kovalev is certainly beatable, but not by this version of Ward or probably any version of Ward. Kovalev by stoppage or confident decision.
Re: Ward/Kovalev Betting Odds
I finally watched Ward - Brand the mismatch. Brand was the reason the fight got called boring not Ward. Brand was purely there to survive and he is an extremely awkward fighter with a chin, 95% of the fight he was back peddling. Never want to see one of his fights again, never haha. As for Ward. I didn't think much of his Barrera fight and this is more of the same except I think people are underrating his power. He's no Kovalev but he packs a decent enough punch, a punch enough to sting and interrupt rhythm, not a punch you can just walk through IMO. The slower (from previous Ward fights) feet and lack of combo activity in probably where I'd give Kovalev the advantage as well as power of course. Kovalev is more athletic but i'm not confident he'll win. I'm betting on him though as he's one of my favorite fighters but I see him walking into Wards left hand all night.

Re: Ward/Kovalev Betting Odds
Ward won't be throwing much of anything once he tastes the kovalev power, let alone left hands 'all night'
Re: Ward/Kovalev Betting Odds
If he's in survival mode, what punch do you think he'll land, he'll do a Chilemba. It will be lefts. It's his strongest hand. If he's outboxing Kov, it will be a left hook. Come on Bloweyyy. Still, I can't predict this. SO so many factors. May the best man win (Kovalev).Riddick Blowe wrote:Ward won't be throwing much of anything once he tastes the kovalev power, let alone left hands 'all night'
Only thing I will predict. This is going to decision and that does not automatically mean a Ward win.
