Kubrat Pulev v Samuel Peter confirmed for Dec 3 in Sofia

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Ahead of a potential European title defense against Mariusz Wach, Bulgarian bruiser Kubrat Pulev will battle former WBC champion Samuel Peter on home soil next month.

The Sauerland promoted clash will take place in Sofia on December 3 at the Arena Armeec as Pulev bids to build on his one-sided win over Dereck Chisora in Hamburg last May opposite ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’.

Peter, 36, made a successful comeback from a two-year absence when retiring Juan Salas in three rounds on a bill in Mexico last week, but whether that will be sufficient preparation for Pulev on the back of such a long spell out remains to be seen.

There’s no doubting Pulev is much the fresher of the pair and the 35 year-old will go into the fight as a clear favourite to move on to either facing Wach as stipulated by the EBU or possibly ditch the blue belt in favour of a final eliminator for a world title.

If Peter somehow pulled off a miracle that would put him in line with a trilogy bout against Wlad Klitschko. Or a shot at a World Title.

If Peter loses he'll still be in line for a title shot these days. Wilder may consider him though he's a bit more dangerous than Deontay wants them.

Peter isnt that old, being 1 year older then Pulev and 4 years younger then Klitschko, nor is he that fat. He used to be around 260 in fights even during his heydays. Who knows, the rest might have done him some good. Pulev is surely a favorite but I would not discount a possibility of Peter upset at all. Interesting fight.

The guy Peter just beat in his latest comeback had already lost 7 fights in a row to unknown guys in Mexico. That's a preparation to fighting one of the top heavies in the world and for some silly "championship"? Please. This is just a sparring session for Pulev.

Peter would be regarded as a tougher fight than Arreola was for Wilder. Peter was a ex champ.

Last I checked Charr held the WBC International title. But the WBA being the WBA, they could always just create another one.
