A decent fight and you have to give Vargas credit for trying, but he's clearly not a world-class welterweight.

My final scorecard reads 118-109 to Pacquiao.

The Manny of old would have stopped Vargas... and in fact, I have no doubt that Brooke, Spence, Crawford and the vast majority of Al Haymon's 147lb-ers would currently be capable of KO-ing Jessie also.

114-113 was a joke. Fight wasn't close at all.

He must have been listening to Stephen A. Smith's inept commentary.

What a dismal performance by Pac. I don't want to see May/Pac 2 as it would just be a repeat. He's lost it. He hardly combos, he just pot shots one or two punches at a time, mostly trying to land that straight left. He doesn't cut off the ring like a pressure fighter should (think GGG). Vargas right gave him problems. Just like Mayweathers, just like JMMs, just like anyone who has a strong straight right. Still, he won, but it was a crap fight.

Despite facing an opponent where he was easily capable of landing his own blows, Pacquiao threw twenty fewer shots against Vargas than he did when he faced Mayweather (as per CompuBox):

* Pacquiao's punch stats (Mayweather): Thrown = 429; Landed = 81; Percent = 19%
* Pacquiao's punch stats (Bradley III): Thrown = 439; Landed = 122; Percent = 28%
* Pacquiao's punch stats (Vargas): Thrown = 409; Landed = 147; Percent = 36%

It clearly wasn't an optical illusion when I thought that Manny was throwing fewer shots against Vargas than he used to do and perhaps the shoulder injury he suffered during the Mayweather bout didn't affect him as much as Team Pacquiao claimed.

Bang, thats a good pick up! Very smart. Listen, much respect to Pac, he's had a great career. He should hang them up though, he's had his heyday.

It's a big deal for Pac that he can not or does not any longer throw around 1000 punches a fight. He's 37 and he still has enough left to beat some of the best guys but I would like to see him hang them up. He relied solely on being a physical freak and at 37 it's hard to get by on that.

I did like that Bradley mentioned his defence though because that's a part of his game which is overlooked IMO.

There are guys out there that will beat Pacquiao up. He doesn't carry the power or have the same work rate. I wouldn't want to see him in with the other WW Champs because I wouldn't want to see him face down on the canvas. Time to call it a day.......for good this time.

Manny simply refuses to take risks anymore.

In boxing, that's a death sentence.

Against a better fighter who goes for it, it could easily have meant another ko loss.
