I'd say the perception of Khan veers towards underrated.

I agree, he got no ring IQ and a weak chin but got skills, speed and bottle in abundanceSaadOffTheDeck wrote:I'd say the perception of Khan veers towards underrated.

His best scalp so far is Chris Algieri and he is getting this ^ kind of hype. That's precisely why he's a perfect name to mention in this thread. The kind of hype that Spence has is what you'd expect of a fighter who's already beaten Thurman, Bradley, Brook, Garcia, or Crawford. Danny Garcia doesn't get this much hype and he's already beaten Lamont Peterson, Lucas Matthysse, and Amir Khan.JohnWilkinson wrote:Seems that Errol Spence is the goods to me. Parker is equal to AJ in speed and technic. But he's less strong, got less stamina and he's less big.JohnWilkinson wrote:Yes and no. My "only seven names that matter" in Hvy.-Wt. div gonna include them: PARKER WILDER JOSHUA POVETKIN FURY HAYE WLAD., in no specified order. Haye Vs Wilder be very interesting confrontation. Parker Vs Joshua good. Parker truly could upend Joshua (possibly) though....is not the conversation here exactly.asdfjkl wrote:David Haye, Deontay Wilder
Wilder and Daffy are clearly a step down compared to them. Even guys out of your top 7 are better as they are. I think Ortiz, but possibly even Tyrone Spong is better for example. I'm not even sure if Wilder is the best American out there. I still think Jennings has a fair chance of winning. Just like Hughie Fury, but Wilder might proof me wrong on that one soon, if he indeed still doesn't dare to face Povetkin.

1. David Price
2. Adrian Broner
3. Malik Scott
4. Amir Khan
5. Daniel Jacobs {/quote]
I don't see any of those guys being hyped a lot.. Maybe Khan was a little during the Canelo buildup, constantly telling us how fast he was.
The most over hyped are Pacquiao, who ducks all the top Welterweights... Alvarez who fights 2nd raters when he should fight more dangerous opponents... Frampton who is hittable and ducked Rigondeaux to fight the inept Santa Cruz.... Roman Gonzalez who got his ass handed to him him in his last fight... and Tim Bradley who avoids all the top Welterweights because he can't box that well... can't punch that hard... and doesn't defend real well.

My thoughts entirely.
I know Spence Jr is good, but folk need to hold back on anointing him the second coming of Sugar Ray Robinson, Moses & Jesus combined until he's actually beaten some top names.
Re: Undeserved hype around them - my top 5 list
I agree on Spence for now. He's impressed me, but he's hyped as a destroyer of elite WWs when he hasn't beaten anyone in the top 10 or arguably top 15 at the time.
His best opponents were Bundu and Algeiri: Bundu is a small, 40+ year old who was never better than EBU level, and Algeri is a decent but featherfisted boxer who had issues with Eric Bone right before facing Spence. To me there's such a big gap between these guys and the top WWs that even demolition jobs aren't enough to warrant the hype he's gotten.

I feel he is capable to become the genuine champion. OK, I am not an expert, I am only a boxing fan since 1970. Spence has a great potential, obviously, but he will need a lot of luck.Syntax Error wrote:Lackeos wrote:His best scalp so far is Chris Algieri and he is getting this ^ kind of hype.
