No location is given, but RRB says it's Sheffield. I suppose it's not the British city, but can anyone locate the town?

I beleive it was Sheffield, IL (near Chicago where Snipes won the Golden Gloves. Snipes lived in Waukegan, IL in 1976-1977, so this is a good guess.

Less likely is is Sheffield, MA.

I guess i would check the Chicago Daily News or Tribune.

Also, I have Snipes being born and raised in Wichita, KS not Houston. He moved to IL in 1976.

why is renaldo snipes called renaldo snipes? very unusual. i know he was adopted. where is snipes roots he looks very 'different'... in a handsome, complimentary way of course.

According to http://www.mapquest.com (v usefull site for us non Merkans) there are 10 Sheffields in the USA

New theory..... RRB has Snipes pro debut in Sheffield on 11-18-1978. I searched the book for more fights on that date and location but found none. It did have a card though in DePaul ( which Boxrec has as taking place in Chicago ) on which among others Quick Tillis fought.
Searching for both DePaul and Sheffield on Google seems to indicate that their closely connected and I think in fact probably the same location in the Chicago area is meant. I hope this has solved the problem.
