Hughie Fury needs to become a Top 20 contender before I'm considering his chances in matchups against titleholders.

I know i was being sarcastic,if hughie was any good then he would of went to the olympics wouldnt he. My point was about prople saying he would box wilders head off,you dont get into the usa boxing squad if u cant box and wilder is a decent boxer as he proved vs stiverne. Hughie would get either blasted out in a few rounds or head boxed off for 9,10 ot 11 rounds then blasted out
Sorry, but I can't remember Stiverne ever winning against anyone out of the US, so how can he even become a serious measurement? Tyson Fury never joined the olympics, if AJ accepted the 50k he would have never joined it either. It doesn't have much to do with quality.
Of my uncle didnt have nuts he would be my auntie so whats ur point about if?

Stiverne was wbc champ when wilder fought him and he got a boxing lesson thats the messurement, when you beat the wbc champ of the world then ur the wbc champ its as simple as that. Oh and tell me who hughie has fought and beat to even suggest he will.beat wilder let alone give him a boxing lesson?

The point is that you think achieving bronze at the olympics is something special, while in fact it isn't.

Stiverne received a free easy shot because Vitali retired. So it became either that bum, or the other bum. And Wilder received an easy shot against the winner of that bumfight.

Who has hughie fury faced never mind beat who has he faced?? He has a string of bums on his record so dont know why ur so uptight on me mentioning wilder can box

Hughie was a fantastic junior amateur. Won international medals.
Didn't really do seniors as he turned over young.

I rate Wilder and fancy him to beat Hughie easily.

Hughie needs a full 12 months healthy before he steps up.

To be fair Hughie hasn't really done anything to suggest he could operate at the top level. I'm not saying he couldn't, I'm just saying that he needs to prove he can. It's really not that difficult. He just needs to start fighting above the level he has. If he wants to jump to Wilder then fine, but if he gets banged out, we learn nothing. I would advise him to get in the British mix maybe. Why isn't he targeting the British title? There's some good fights out there.

Wilder would bash him up. No-one that Hughie has fought convinces me that he could survive the distance against Wilder.
Wilder my be crude and wild-swinging at times, but by god he can punch.

Just seen Matchroom offered Hughie the Dec 10th AJ fight but only offered him 200k.

Shocking offer that makes me thing Matchroom don't fancy sticking AJ in with him anytime soon.

Or maybe that's what the see his worth as? Doubt they were offering Price much more. Don't forget Hughie is still barely top 40 HW.

The fact he's called Fury alone ups his value. And it's a far better fight than Molina.

Offering that little is just greed, cowardice or both.

The casual fan does not know who Hughie Fury is. He is not a highly ranked HW. And his personality is polar opposite of Tyson Fury.

Yeah the name is there, but that's all there is. He was offered what he was offered because that's all he's worth at the moment. He will not get 200k anywhere else. At least Molina has been in there with some top class HW's. It at least gives Joshua a yardstick.

Hughie may well be worth much more in the not too distant future, but he needs to be a bit more relevant by creating ripples from inside of the ring. To suggest they only offered him 200k because they are scared of him is absolutely absurd.

To be fair to Hearn (who I give stick to quite a bit) - how much should Hughie be offered? He hasn't exactly got a huge profile and he's not beaten anyone of any particular note (neither has Joshua I know but he's in the driving seat commercially) - now if Eddie had tried making that same offer to Tyson then it would legitimately outrageous. In these circumstances though- I don't think it's a particularly bad offer.

I'm not high on Hughie's world level prospects, but at this stage he should beat Arreola.

It's nonsensical to go after his level of opposition when addressing that fight, as he's already easily beaten someone who clearly bettered Arreola. These days Arreola is terribly slow, easier to hit than ever, can't take a shot nearly as well as he used to, and has to go life and death to beat clubfighters like Curtis Harper. Even someone like Rudenko would have a very good shot of beating him.....

Not all boxers get paid millions. Spitzka only got 250k for fighting Wilder. Christ, Danny Williams only got 125k for fighting Tyson , that's before deductions/costs. Remember him saying he took home about 35k.
Spinks and Judah shared a purse of $125000 when they had a welterweight unification fight!

Fury would 120-108 Arreola now in a snooze fest. Arreola of 4-5 yrs ago may have been interesting.

He needs to fight someone with some ambition and no way will he be fighting Wilder anytime soon. He's not fought since April now and won't step up in his first fight back.

Christian Hammer could be a decent shout as an opponent now.

250k is a huge amount of money and would of been Hughies biggest payday.
It's not a big payday when the guy in the other corner is getting between 3-5 million based on PPV buys.
I think he'd of probably accepted around 600k. Based on the surname and the future financial value of a Hughie Fury name on Joshua's record he's worth way more than 200k for this fight.

Don't forget this fight would of made a AJ-Tyson fight bigger it's like free promotion.

I'm sure Matchroom fancy beating Hughie but it doesn't seem a risk they fancy taking. Don't forget Hughie has NEVER fought 100% healthy and his level is impossible to judge.

I think if Hughies fights and beats a few top 30's, he's only going to greatly increase his stock, and increase his earning potential.

I completely get what you're saying, and am struggling to disagree. However the guy in the other corner would earn 3-5 million against anyone. Also throw in the fact that this is a voluntary defence and Joshua has the belt, almost acts as like an equaliser. Just as when Martin came over, he brought the belt and Joshua brought the money, which Martin took the lion's share of the purse.

I think Pulev has been quite smart rejecting a voluntary offer, knowing he could get more money in a mandatory position, which he now is. I think Hughie needs to get himself into a mandatory position too. It seems nowadays that fighters get into the top 15 of the ABC rankings and expect to making big demands. There is 10-12 people ahead of Hughie in the IBF rankings, this is an opportunity offered to him. If he wants more time to improve to give himself the best chance of winning, then he should go ahead and do that.
