The best chin, only active, my top 5 list

Post by ValMar »

1. GGG
2. Canelo Alvarez
3. Usyk
4. Bradley
5. L. Ortiz

I have to add : Vitali Klitschko had the best chin, considering boxers who were active since 2000. :TU:

What's Ortiz done to show he has such a great chin?

I have never seen him hurt, and he is HW. Quite enough...

It's really hard to rate chins, because anybody can be knocked out if they're hit hard enough on the button.

1. Golovkin... 2. Parker... 3. Beterbiev... 4. Eubank... 5. Duhaupas... Wilder didn't as much knock the defenseless Duhaupas out -- so much as he beat him to trash. The raw swinger absorbed some big shots from Wilder and Helenius without blinking -- proving the chin doesn't make the fighter.

Oliver McCall might disagree. But, I agree the shots Vitali took from Lewis and Sanders were amazing.

That Rafael Zumbano Love guy has a pretty tremendous chin considering it usually takes a while for guys to take him out, and he gets hit with virtually everything that comes his way.

Tim Bradley definitely takes a good shot. GGG seems to take a good shot. There's not too many people in the sport right now that strike me as human anvils like I've seen in the past like Oliver McCall.

I have seen each of Wach and Duhaupas take a pretty big beating one time. Dominick Guinn is 35-11-1 and still has never been KO'd. Sherman Williams has only been stopped once early in his career and has gone the distance against Joseph Parker and some other good punchers.

Bradley was almost killed by Provo. Usyk's chin hasn't really been tested yet. Come back after he fights Lebedev/Gassiev winner or at least Bellew.

Wach was pummelled by Wlad and continually took flush shots from the Pov who just flattened Perez, yet he was hardly budged.

How about Lemieux and Stevens ? How about stopping Geale while being tagged into the chin?

However, those places are in fact even more arbitrary than p4p ones. We could probably put 10-20 fighters with great chins in random order.

Ismail Abdoul has fought 99 times, with bouts against Haye, Huck, Adamek, Enzo, YP Hernandez, Mike Perez, Wlod, Glowacki, and other notables, yet he's only been stopped once (TKO 12 against Wlod).

My knock against him is that he often comes mainly to survive.

He was like a technician against Lemieux.
He got a hit a couple times against Stevens. So have many other fighters.
Geale ... ehh

Not trying to play GGG, but I'm more about proof.
Let's go with a guy who has been in and rocked by the best.

What about Bika?
And other dudes like him.
Clearly, more proven than GGG.

He has never been wobbled, and he has fought at least two very powerful opponents - Stevens and Lemiuex. His basic quality is chin, power is the second........

Lemieux barely laid a glove on him. Did beating Tua proved that Lewis had a great chin?

It is not the same, HW is quite different thing.....And, Lemi has landed several very vicious punches. Stevens too.........GGG didn't blink........

Lewis had a good chin... He was nailed with 2 perfect punches. You never want to get bombed like that... 98% of Heavyweights would be out if those connected... I've seen much better connects: The shots that put Paul Williams and Manny Pacquiao out are like the baseball that leaves the stadium and it's still rising. The outfielder never moved an inch when he heard the crack of the bat. Next stop 5th Ave.

Mariusz Wach had the best chin I've ever seen... I forgot about him. Wladimir nailed him perfect and the man never blinked.

Yes, Wach has an excellent chin, but not the best. Imagine HW with his chin, and punching power of David Price (neglect the skillset).
