They were both very clumsy and hittable, but Carnera wins... Primo was too big and strong for Willard.

Willard was one of the easiest Heavyweight Champions to hit and he didn't like Boxing... He admitted he only boxed because he was big, strong, and tough.. Others suggested boxing to him and it seemed like an easy way to make money.. After Willard won the title in a fight of dubious authenticity, he didn't defend it for years.. He preferred going on tour rather than training or boxing. It was easier money.. The Frank Moran match was actually listed as an exhibition boxing match for many years, and not a title defense.. Willard insisted on a No Decision exhibition with no judges.. For me, Willard actually defended his title only once against Dempsey, more than 4 years after he won it.. He looked woefully out of condition and did very little after that pathetic showing.

Carnera had little talent, but he actually loved Boxing and he trained hard... He beat World Champions like Jack Sharkey and Tommy Loughran in World Title Fights.. He didn't put the Heavyweight Title in mothballs, but sought to defend it.. After Baer beat Carnera for the title he kept active and fought over 100 total fights in his career, scoring the most KO wins of any Heavyweight Champion.

These guys both suck. I guess I'd go with Jess Willard. Wouldn't surprise me either way it went though. Both are just big, lumbering oafs.

They didn't have more big lumbering oafishness than Ty Fields, Julius Long, or David Price... It's unusual for big tall guys to have great coordination.
