Dominant over the first half, and not dominated over the second. He was still landing the overhand rights frequently, and apart from one hook that slightly rocked him he was mainly getting hit with pitter-patter shots that I consider less meaningful than his own connects. McD's jab, which I've seen mentioned as a reason for him winning, was also quite inaccurate and often thrown from too far out.
Watching a debated round like the 11th, I see McD getting pushed back, repeatedly belted with those right hands, and in general looking the more uncomfortable of the two; I can't see how flicking jabs and an occasional combo that has pretty much no visible effect on Solis outweigh that.

I missed the first 3 rounds and wasn't actively scoring but my feeling was Solis was a pretty clear winner.
I watched the full UFC card last night. The sport itself feels like a por mans boxing but the whole setup and production value of the UFC really leaves boxing in it's dust. The sport neefs a long overdue overhaul, it's in crisis.
And that Malik Scott fight
i love how Eddie tried to claim Scott duped him. The guy went looking for a way out vs Chisora ffs as if Hearn was expecting him to have a go.

Had Solis 5-1 in the first 6 rounds and Jamie 5-1 in the final 6... But Solis won his rounds bigger...which is why it feels like a dodgy decision.

McD was the one with the quality? Can't really see that....his offense was largely flicking jabs and arm punch flurries, while Solis was landing big rights, busted his nose, and in general had him looking the more weary of the two.
A stronger argument for McD would be quantity of connects IMO, although I think Solis bettered him there too.

I had Solis by a couple, at the end I half expected a draw.
I wouldn't have argued with Mcdonnell by a round because some of the rounds were tough to score, but the cards were far too wide and Solis should rightly feel aggrieved.
Solis should put in an appeal with the WBA, he has nothing to lose.

I finished 114-114.
Solis got most of my early rounds and Mcdonnell got most of the second half of the fight.
If he can't make Warren fight then he should give Solis a rematch.
No one for him to fight at SB. Quigg up at FW now chasing Frampton.

Rewatched this and Jamie v Kameda 2 recently.
jamie v Solis was a very good fight against a former super flyweight champ who outgrew the weight (failed to make weight in his first defence), dropped Yamanaka 3x in his first serious bantam fight, enroute to defeat, and is growing into a good little bantam.
Really warmed up in round 8, with Jamie rocked, and 9-10, with Solis looking wounded. Then had Jamie needing the last two. Had him winning the rounds, but was disconcerted, still, to see him edge the sessions on the back foot, on the ropes, rather than dominating the last couple as is his custom. Great effort by Solis who will surely get a rematch by the WBA who can't sway decisions in favour of Sputh/Central American fighters but give them plenty of opportunities for their title belts.
Think McDonnell's decline may be over exaggerated, even by myself. Bad night at the office, cut, bleeding from the nose, fighting in an unfamiliar location - and clearly hurting his hand in 10 or 11 because he seemed to back off, hurt, after landing a shot. Solis will improve also, he'll still be filling out at the weight, but if Jamie puts two hands together in the late rounds of a rematch he can batter him to grind out the late sessions and earn a tough, 7-5 or 8-4 type of decision.
Saw Jamie v Kameda 2 again. With the non PBC commentary. Previously had Jamie 6-6 and winning only due to the knockdown. Now I have it 8-4 with an extra point for the knockdown in round 12. Also saw this version on a bigger screen and many of the Doncaster man's jabs I'd thought fallen short I saw landing. So, revised my opinion and surprised to have Jamie improving between the two fights. Jamie stayed on a very negative Kameda who refused to trade this time, only wanting to steal the openings with amateur style, slick pot shotting. An absorbing tactical fight, Kameda landing some superb shots but unable to do the work, stumbling from a jab in the tenth, looking softened up in the 11th and down in the twelfth, albeit putting in a proud rally to end it. McDonnell just kept touching him all night. First fight was a lot better, with McDonnell down early and needing the grandstand finish.
Pretty sure that if he can do the weight ok he improves in a Solis rematch also.
