Even the most informed people make mistakes. Some of you guys are blowing his win out of the ridiculous reach it was already at after the fight. The guy had an insane win, but some UK fans are really knocking it out of the park from where it should be.

Behave, if Jeff had won, even on a close decision, us Brits would never hear the end of it.

Lacy just another American Hyped up fighter!

I KNEW JC would beat him - too good!

Informed writers?.

Read the post again - I said some writers had NEVER even seen Joe fight - but backed Lacy ??.

How is that INFORMED?????

Surely that is daft?.

I've just sort of semi-agreed and disagreed with you on a similar thing on the current scene. No doubt Calzaghe was excellent last night. He's proved he's a class act after a number of years of fighting poor opposition, which required only a poor performance to win.

I do agree, however, that you can argue a) Calzaghe should have been doing this for years b) Lacy was relatively innexperienced with 20 fights, and while he was certainly a top 3 SM, there is still Kessler to beat. (I know It's easily done to rubbish Lacy after last night, but given he had half the fights of Calzaghe, and we were going into this fight roughly 50-50, that says something about Joe's recent (lack of) exciting and meaningful outings. And while IMO Calzaghe would beat Kessler, we do still have to treat the 3 of them as the top 3 @ SM. Calzaghe has beaten Lacy handsomly, but should now do the same with Kessler (although he'll probably move up now I know)

By the way, I don't want to sound like an arse here (this is hard for me to do on any occassion) because Calzaghe was fantastic last night. Just sort of saying this wasn't Hatton-Zoo, with the young pretender living up to his potential to beat the undisputed champ. This was a guy who was already the champ, but had somehow let guys like Lacy be touted as being the same class as himself.
