Re: Opponent for Ortiz, December, 10
Vitali has the 2nd highest KO ratio of any retired Heavyweight Champion.. At the time of the Briggs fight he had the highest ever KO ratio.. Vitali was 40 years old...2 years older than Briggs.. The beating VK gave to Briggs broke several bones in Briggs's face, including a broken left orbital bone and a broken nose -- injuries Biggs never suffered against any other fighter... Briggs built up a massive 23 inch neck and weighed 262.25lbs... He turned himself into an absorber after the Lewis fight where he weighed only 228 ... He hasn't been stopped since.ValMar wrote:SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Yeah, vitali's lack of power really hurt Briggs.

Also note that Briggs fought Vitali for 12 rounds with one arm. Just to compare, when Wilder felt pain in his arm, they asked his opponent to stop the fight almost instantly. Remarkebly they said Wilder was the winner by TKO anyway. That's how much it hurts, one fight stops straight away, Briggs fought Vitali for 12 rounds.

Re: Opponent for Ortiz, December, 10
I've no idea who Ortiz will be facing on the 10th December, but Eddie Hearn will try and match him against a vastly overmatched opponent to achieve a dead-cert KO to help recover from the Malik Scott marketing disaster.
Re: Opponent for Ortiz, December, 10
Are you f*cking out of your mind? Whyte shut Allen out 4 months ago. Allen has virtually 0 chance against any top 50 heavyweight, and absolutely 0 chance against any top 20 heavyweight.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Allen is the first one mentioned with above a 0% chance.Rob3_142 wrote:Malik Scott was at pretty short notice (although he ended up being an awful opponent).
Possible opponents? Hard one. The only one that sticks out as a possibility is David Price. Hearn was talking possibly squeezing him onto the bill, so if they're both without opposition, it would be logical. Dave Allen wants it, but that's never happening.
Maybe Jarell Miller, but there is a slim chance him being pulled off the card. I don't think Hearn expected him to be dragged through 12 rounds by Scott. Only problem is he's already been promised and is on the posters etc. I guess it depends how much it took out of him.

An undercard fight why would anyone think its someone of note with less than a month to prepare for an elite guy.

December the 10th, guys. It won't be anyone even half as good as Fred Kassi at this point. I imagine Matchroom consider an ideal opponent somebody who:
> Is reasonably cheap and willing to jump in short notice.
> Poses no risk of winning.
> Decent enough durability to go 2/3 rounds, preferably no less and not much more.
> Not mobile at all.
with perhaps one or more of the following inessential qualities:
> Will go down swinging.
> Doesn't look like a slug.
> A superficially decent record (26-2-1 or something like that), with some element that gives Hearn something to sell - high KO%, never been stopped, something like that.
Have a look through the Brazilian Heavyweight rankings (or whatever) and find a guy like this Pedro Otas:

He might be a little too small but I'll eat my hat if it is anyone better than him.

I agree with Saad. It probably will be Allen. He's already said he wants the fight- he's pretty cheap and he's pretty durable but also more of a fighter than a boxer so will give it a good go.

I'd be surprised if it was someone as good as Allen. I'm skeptical he fights, but I'd look more at the guys Allen has beaten.lefty wrote:I agree with Saad. It probably will be Allen. He's beaten mainly journeyman I think. He's still not had that many fights as a pro and I don't think he had any real amateur career either.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I'd be surprised if it was someone as good as Allen. Hearn did say in a recent interview that the Idea of the opponent being Allen did interest him because he's known to the British boxing public. Better than bringing in some eastern European journeyman, were his words basically.

That's the idea. Hearn really need Ortiz to KO someone impressively...He hoped it will happen vs Scott...
