TBH I'm not really pumped up about the Kovalev vs Ward fight
Yeah, it's a great fight between 2 great fighters and the winner should be no. 1 p4p fighter in the world but this fight doesn't get me any thrill. Kovalev vs Stevenson fight would bring me some excitement.
Re: TBH I'm not really pumped up about the Kovalev vs Ward fight
i am pumped...
but yeah bert or adonis would be better action fights with kov.

This will decide the #1 p4p fighter in the sport. A fight taking place in the worst year in boxing history...and you're not excited? Why because it won't end inside 2 rounds?
One problem with Adonis stevenson. He's a chickensh*t and won't fight Ward or Kovalev.

I am pumped.
This is a genuine superfight between two of the best in the world, who are both still peak fighters & there can be case for each beating the other.
It's all well & good surmising about Adonis Stevenson, but he has been at 175 for years & he hasn't wanted any part of Kovalev.
Ward has been inactive & barely had a career at 175, yet he is fighting Kovalev before Stevenson!
Tells you all you need to know about so-called 'Superman'.

I am hyped for the fight ...
BUT, I understand what you're saying 100%.
Kovalev VS Stevenson was the better fight for 2016.

Everyone knows Ward or Kovalev would handle Adonis one arm Stevenson with ease. Fast food, ADD types would like to watch Kovalev Adonis for the sheer brutalness. But it's not telling us who the best is. We already know Ward and Kov are the best. Now we find out who is THE best.

Sorry man, I disagree with your assessment.diddy wrote:Everyone knows Ward or Kovalev would handle Adonis one arm Stevenson with ease. Stevenson is not as skilled as Ward or Kovalev.
But what he does have, is had in a way, that makes him dangerous for any opponent.

Like I said , it's clearly that both fighters are great and I favor Ward to beat Kovalev by taking his best weapons away, but I still think Kovalev vs Stevenson would've been a fun fight to watch, not to mention that a lot of us would've liked to see Superman get kryptonited on the floor.

Yup, Stevenson has legit 1ko power and he's very sneaky with his feints.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Sorry man, I disagree with your assessment.diddy wrote:Everyone knows Ward or Kovalev would handle Adonis one arm Stevenson with ease. Stevenson comes from a legacy of being in position to land your punch.apollo creed wrote:Yup, Stevenson has legit 1ko power and he's very sneaky with his feints.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Sorry man, I disagree with your assessment.diddy wrote:Everyone knows Ward or Kovalev would handle Adonis one arm Stevenson with ease. That's Kronk.
So, I think it's crazy to dismiss his chances,
especially when pairing that school of boxing with his punching power.

...that's the one I'm looking forward to...

Adonis has good power. Against the non elite. Kov and Ward are elite and would expose him badly. That's why he's running from them. He knows.

I don't believe you! You would have to be dead inside to not get excited for this fight. Two men at the pinnacle of the boxing world. Nobody truly has any idea what to expect.
Re: TBH I'm not really pumped up about the Kovalev vs Ward fight
Its perfectly normal for the average fan to favor Krusher. Most average fans want action, and don't care about skill.
Re: TBH I'm not really pumped up about the Kovalev vs Ward fight
It's another fight 1-2 years too late imo.
Ward is a lazy bum.

Re: TBH I'm not really pumped up about the Kovalev vs Ward fight
Stevenson and Kovalev would be great because of the backstory and hatred involved but I'm more excited to see Kov/Ward. The reason is that both guys will be fighting against the best boxer they've ever faced. That has always meant a great fight if you look back at examples. I just can't wait to see which will be able to force their will onto the other. And imagine if Ward just throws everything out the window and bangs? This could be an absolute war like we've never seen on this level and within that division.apollo creed wrote:Yeah, it's a great fight between 2 great fighters and the winner should be no. 1 p4p fighter in the world but this fight doesn't get me any thrill. What hatred?caldo2025 wrote:Stevenson and Kovalev would be great because of the backstory and hatred involved...
During the Pascal II post-fight interview with Max Kellerman, Sergey Kovalev said he’d like to unify the division and also fight “Adonis Chickenson”. He even made duck quacking noises.
Almost immediately, the Canadian WBC champ entered the ring and interrupted the interview, which led to some hideously fake WWE-style “bad blood” antics.
Freddie Roach, Jean Pascal’s trainer, subsequently confirmed that the all the dodgy post-fight shenanigans were entirely planned, with both men laughing and hugging each other in the dressing room later on, “so it was all búllshít!”
Re: TBH I'm not really pumped up about the Kovalev vs Ward fight
Kovalev called him a POS in interviews for months after Stevenson pulled his disappearing act. Kovalev is not that good of an actor.Enlightened-One wrote:What hatred?caldo2025 wrote:Stevenson and Kovalev would be great because of the backstory and hatred involved...

Watch the video supplied in my hyperlink. 100% pumped for this fight, I've even re-added Sky Sports to my package. Altho' streams are good, I fancy it proper HD as I only use a VGA connection from my laptop to TV when I do stream.
Re: TBH I'm not really pumped up about the Kovalev vs Ward fight
I don't think Kovalev is that superior a boxer than Stevenson. He has a better arsenal for sure ie a good jab and a powerful right hand and left hook. Stevenson on the other hand however is very one hand dominant. His actual boxing brain though is pretty decent and he's a good counter puncher. I think the dislike of Stevenson in a lot of quarters; for varying reasons leads to people's judgement being clouded in regards to his actual ability.
Re: TBH I'm not really pumped up about the Kovalev vs Ward fight
Roach has nothing to do with either guy so why anything coming from his mouth would be worth providing a link to is beyond me.Enlightened-One wrote:Watch the video supplied in my hyperlink. He was an eye witness, that's why. It doesn't matter if he wasn't affiliated to Kovalev or Stevenson, the fact is he saw those guys laughing and hugging each other in the dressing room.caldo2025 wrote:Roach has nothing to do with either guy so why anything coming from his mouth would be worth providing a link to is beyond me.Enlightened-One wrote:Watch the video supplied in my hyperlink. I can't believe I've just had to explain an incredibly basic concept.
