It has captured the public imagination, and the fact that a few posters have inundated this thread with comments shows how massive the contest is; we should actually be on our knees in thanks to these two good men who are bringing so much attention to the sport.
Also, regardless of how old Green is, or how badly Mundine got his ass kicked at 154 pounds in his last bout, these guys who have made a lot of money are going to make a lot more money, which somehow makes this a good fight and should be of our utmost concern. And of course bragging rights are on the line too; the fight ten years ago means nothing now, as the winner here takes home all the glory.
This is going to be a hugely dramatic affair that makes people around the country proud to be Australian, and blah blah blah and so on

Seats on tables look to be $830 each (tables are $10,000 each and assuming 12 seats per table) - price includes 3 course dinner delivered to the table and a 5 hour drink package of premium beers & wines.
Seats on playing surface
There are 6,000 seats on the playing surface of the oval.
The cheapest seats on the playing surface are just under $500 each.
Tickets for areas off the playing surface
There will be in the order of 30,000 tickets for the areas off the oval playing surface.
These vary from just under $300 down to just over $140.
Needed to use every bead on the abacus for this one.
Using the perhaps optimistic attendance figure of 37,000 I come up with a gross turnover, based on ticket sales only, of in the order of $10 million dollars.
This would obviously be supplemented by PPV sales, sponsorships, what the Sth Australian government might be chipping in etc.

Calm down mate. Take it easy. There has been much worse fights sanctioned and nobody forced Mundine to take the fight.

Now that that will make fielding a tad difficult for all the cricket matches scheduled there before this night of nights.
The next Test is in Adelaide and the Aussies are getting caned. Perhaps the seats can be strategically placed to cut off the South African's best shots?
Biggest drawcard Adelaide ever had , was Chris Nicolau ,, he used to draw 3-4000 to the abcos , but with him on, and Fenech on, along with guy waters fighting Dennis Andreas ,, the most they could get was 7-8000 people , and that was in a time when boxing was popular in Adelaide ..
Leaves 30,000 people to fly or drive in from interstate , to make 38000 . I don't think theres that many stupid people in Australia ,,,, IS THERE

I'm not 100% of the capacity of Adelaide Oval. But i won't be at all suprised if it's full. The people of Adelaide eat up the 'hero vs villian' theme of Mundine vs Green.
Capacity is 53,500. Crows vs Pt Adelaide can't attract anywhere near it, nor any other sport event. How is Green vs Mundine gonna attract 37k?
Watch local politicians focus into government's 500k sponsorship, now that voluntary euthanasia bill is dead & buried yet again......for time being anyway.
