WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
There's has been talk that Carl would consider about coming out of retirement to get in the ring with Gennady however, Carl has quashed the rumours and will remain happily retired.
I would love if these two would share a ring together, I must not be the only one, surely? So, if these did get it on who would win?
I could see this being a very exciting and intriguing bout, which would not go the distance.

Froch on his best day wouldn't beat Golovkin on his worst.
Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
I'd say Golovkin. The reason we know Froch has an iron chin is because of how many times its been tested, which shows how easy he is to land on.
It's easy for him to talk smack from retirement, he has nothing left to prove. Golovkin would stop him, and Froch knows that.

The Gster wide on points.
Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
No point in this fight. Carl has been in retirement too long. Why come out when he has nothing to prove?
Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
more interesting question might be Froch at his best..taylor / bute period vs GGG.
that's an interesting call.
Carl in that one stands a more than decent chance.

The Golovkin hype- god damn.
Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
People seem really hung up on forever suggesting dream matches for Golovkin that have virtually no chance of happening. GGG vs Froch might've been reasonable to expect when Froch was active, but now it's a pipe dream.
GGG vs Floyd Mayweather was always a pipe dream, and I still see people harping on about that one as well.

You still think its hype? god damn. The guy is for real, anyone who's followed his career probably could have told you that in the ams.

I think Froch thought long and hard about Golovkin though - i think the deal breaker in the end was the Golovkin wasn't big enough yet with the mainstream. Had the GGG-Brook fight happened more in time with Froch vs Groves 2 it probably would have happened.
But yeah, it's dead now, Froch got a nose job, no way is he fighting again.
Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
He is very good but to automatically say he'd knock Froch out is a bit fool hardy. Whilst he broke Brook's Cheek bone he didn't drop him once in the fight and Brook is a natural welterweight.Ricky_ wrote:lefty wrote:The Golovkin hype- god damn.

Froch was a naturally bigger man with a tremendous chin. I wouldn't argue with the distinct possibility that Golovkin could beat him but beating him via stoppage seems a bit premature.

Brook was nearly stopped in round 1 and from what i remember he was down in round 2? I also disagree Brook is a natural welter, he's a bit small for middle though, granted.
Froch's chin is a bit overplayed, i'm not saying it's suspect, he's eaten amazing shots and his powers of recovery as shown in the Groves fight is right up there with Marquez or Ali, but Golovkin is a different kettle of fish from Groves or Taylor, and he's got an outstanding chin himself.
Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
I think Brook did go down but I think their legs were somewhat tangled up aswell if memory serves me correct. I could be wrong though!

Fair play to Golovkin. Atleast he's trying to shut that shit down.

Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
If Froch were to fight again, he’d need six months (at least) to prepare, which could potentially result in him entering the ring at forty years of age, having been inactive for more than three years.fightfan95 wrote:WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
The man from Nottingham’s talent was clearly on the wane when he faced George Groves, so he would probably be considered a totally “shot” fighter right now.
Therefore, let Froch enjoy his retirement! Tom Loeffler was the one proposing his name as a potential Golovkin opponent, to simply attract media headlines, so let Team GGG continue calling out significantly smaller, long-time retired fighters or both.
We'll no doubt read posts from utterly moronic forum posters claiming Froch "no doubt" recently ducked Golovkin... blah, blah, blah...fúckin’… blah!

Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
Nobody even mentioned weight. It would have to be at least at 175 if Froch can still make that weight. Froch would be even slower and easier to land on than usual. Golovkin would likely fight the 175-lb Froch the way he fought Lemieux and Stevens and would possibly need to be satisfied with a points win.
Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
prime for prime froch too big and strong, his jab and right hand would find a home
Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
It was a year of 2 ago when Froch proposed this fight and Golovkin jumped all over it... Froch said he'd have his decision within the next week after a week of posting muscle pumping photos of himself saying he was too big and strong for GGG... GGG said, "If you're too big let's fight then." Three weeks later Froch said he'd stay retired.. It was frustrating for fans to say the least.. Just like the negotiations with Canelo, Jacobs, Saunders, etc.
Other 168-pounders GGG tried to get were Chavez Jr... Edwin Rodriquez about 3 years ago... and Oosthuszien at round the time of the Rodriguez talks... Abel Sanchez was determined to get an acclimation fight for Gennady at 168 to help build up a Ward fight... Everyone peeled off.

Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
Froch is too old and has been retired for too long. 39 years old and hasn't fought in 2.5 years. For those of you who don't understand what that kind of age and layoff will do, he's basically one-third of the fighter that he was when he fought Groves 2. The fact that he retired in the first place should be kind of a clue as to how much he had left back then. However, I'm mildly - moderately confident that a prime Froch would be a favorite over Golovkin.
Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
It's sad that these champions just can't step away from the game without that resisting urge to keep their name relevant. I know that Froch isn't responsible for this latest matter but we've seen Froch use media to call attention to this GGG fight that will never happen. I understand it. I'd probably have the same issues stepping away from the limelight. But it's sad and I think hurts the legacy of a boxer that i'd like to remember as the definition of a warrior. Let's all just let it go now.
Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
How do you think that fight would have played out? Froch had a long sneaky jab and suttle defensive movements so I agree Carl earned that slight edge over what we're seen of GGG so far, doubt there is a KO either way, so what weaknesses do you see getting exploited by both men and what kind of scoring.Lackeos wrote:Froch is too old and has been retired for too long. 39 years old and hasn't fought in 2.5 years. Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
golovkin unanimous decision
Re: WHO WOULD WIN? Froch v Golovkin
Very hard to call, we know Froch has a serious chin but we know Golovkin hits harder than anyone he has faced, we know Froch hits hard but not massively, we sort of know it takes a fair bit of power to hold off Golovkin, I think the decider would be how Golovkin makes the weight. If it is a natural weight for him then this is a 50-50 fight but if he doesn't then I think Froch may be physically too much for him.
