119-109 for me,I quite enjoyed that despite my wide score,Gutknecht had his moments early on mostly with single shots as Groves got silly again by trying to exchange and there was a couple of times I thought he was a split second away from getting nailed like he did in the Froch rematch,he really leaves that left hand low especially when unloading his own right hand, second half of the fight he was excellent I thought,he really broke Gutknecht up and I've never seen him look so beaten up before,by the 11th he looked one big shot away from being stopped from the ref or a towel

Groves has one move. Its the jab and overhand right made for a German fighter with a high guard. I cant see him being a "real" world champion.

Eddy being bang average, and not having more than 7 rounds of stamina doesn't mean that Groves looked good. For the first 4 rounds Groves looked terrible, last 4 he looked alright against a 1-eyed guy who looked like he was coming down in weight and could only do 7 rounds at a decent pace. There was no killer instinct at all from Grove who was pedestrian when Gutknecht was looking buggered and fighting 1-eyed for 4 rounds.
Why was he one eyed?
Do you think Degale would have stopped him or a similar type of fight?

Selby's footwork is really entertaining to watch, its almost impudent. Certainly a bit cheeky at least.

It makes me laugh when people quote a 2 time world title challenger bang average
Groves had a Fantastic jab , didn't crumble under pressure, lost 3 rounds max against an opponant that would give any decent SM a hard night .
some people are never happy
Plenty of crap 2-time world title challengers, especially in this era of 4 world titles (i.e. Richie Mepranum, heck Zou Shiming is a world champion and is terrible professional, Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo, Paul Smith)
If Gutknecht would be a hard night for Smith, DeGale or Ramirez then the division is flat on it's arse at the moment.

Problem with Degale is that he's so inconsistent, I think he COULD have stopped Steiglitz in a similar fight...or spent 4 rounds doing nothing and frustrating everyone who would have said "same old DegGale, switches off for half a fight" as we see almost every time he's in the ringrossij8 wrote:Boxing Prospect wrote:Cos he kept getting hit there, doesn't change the fact Groves never showed the finishing instinct to try and finish him in the 4 rounds he was figthing with 1 eye, instead he fought at a pedestrian and comfortable pace and looked happy to go the distance rather than hunt a decisive finishing moment.rossij8 wrote:

In which fight was Froch fighting 1 eyed and looking completely spent?ginty wrote:he got stopped trying to do that to froch! it's called learning he didn't punch himself out which is a smarter way to fightBoxing Prospect wrote:Cos he kept getting hit there, doesn't change the fact Groves never showed the finishing instinct to try and finish him in the 4 rounds he was figthing with 1 eye, instead he fought at a pedestrian and comfortable pace and looked happy to go the distance rather than hunt a decisive finishing moment.rossij8 wrote:

Can't see how this is advancing Selby's career. What kind of a challenge is this guy bringing to the fight? There's nothing for Selby to work out. There's nothing.

All Jake Bornea has going for him in this fight is his toughness.

Frampton always comes across so well, mcguigan always used to say what a good young man as well as fighter he was, and it seems he's right, Frampton seems a classy dude.

Not strictly true is it? I take each comment as it comes. GG has been berated on here many times and I don't comment. I just feel that if someone makes a claim of liking or disliking a boxer it's genuinely interesting to know what that boxer does to make someone like or not like them. In some boxers it's obvious but in GG I personally just don't see it. Maybe I have rose tinted glasses on...![]()
Nah I'm kidding mate. My comment was tongue in cheek because you have dug me up a couple of times over GG comments

Channel 5 coverage not that bad all in all. It was bad in the Haye fights but maybe that's because they ended very early? They didn't know what to do with the free time?
