Calzaghe is a fraud!

Post by Goz »

Sorry, just with all the humble pie threads I thought I'd be original and start one slagging him off....

So I guess we all believe him about his injury leading up to the Glencoffe Johnson fight now?

JC has terribly fragile hands.

I believe that his Left hand wasn't fully healed last last. He only fractured it on November & it was definitely swollen before he fought.

...which has absolutely nothing to do with the Johnson fight. To answer Goz's question: let's give him the benefit of the doubt I'd say. Didn't you see his bird at ringside? It would be very easy to injure your back shagging that.

Good point, no don't believe the excuses and its still going to cost him all time great status.

Victory over a 20 fight boxer with relative inexperience over elite fighters as a career defining fight, doesn't not make you an all time great - despite the manner of the win.

Had Lacy fought and beaten the likes of Ottke, Beyer, Mundine, Kessler, Sarnavia etc - then it would bring more meaning. He didn't beat a top 5 fighter (and some might argue top 10).

However, Joe can fight.

johnson was a bloody glorified trial horse.

yeah sure he's world top 10 level, but calzaghe would have bashed him. i always believed calzaghe on that one and it would have been rescheduled but for roy jones offer to fight him.

i agree calzaghe has still wasted a large part of his career though.

If Calzaghe did pull out of the Johnson fight for any reason other than the one given I still seriously doubt it would be because he thought it too big a challenge. Christ, Calzaghe had never looked better in dismantling that Mgerwhatshisname, absolutely razor sharp for that one.
