WHO WINS? Carl Frampton vs. Lee Selby
if the fight was made today, who wins?
Re: WHO WINS? Carl Frampton vs. Lee Selby
Much as a close fight I think the Santa Cruz fight proves Frampton can fight against the bigger guys so the edge Selby had might be gone.

I think Selby will be to big.
Frampton likes people coming at him. Selby will backfoot in and out.
Frampton more consistent than Selby though so would need Selby to be at his best.

Along the same lines. It would be a superb fight though (and one I could see Frank realistically looking to get).PredatorHayds wrote:I think Selby will be to big.

Frampton has much the better quality of wins to date though. It really is a good match up
Re: WHO WINS? Carl Frampton vs. Lee Selby
I think Frampton is seriously good BUT I think Selby is too big for him. I go Selby to spring a surprise.

Re: WHO WINS? Carl Frampton vs. Lee Selby
t's very intriguing as it's a very skillful guy with short arms against a very skillful guy with long arms.
Re: WHO WINS? Carl Frampton vs. Lee Selby
Frampton's beat the better fightersoon & regularly fights at the elite level.
Re: WHO WINS? Carl Frampton vs. Lee Selby
Tough fight to call. Obvious answer is Frampton who is proven against higher class opposition but Selby would have a 7 inch reach advantage and Frampton isn't really a front foot, aggressive fighter who looks to close the distance. LSC had the same reach advantage but his style sort of negates that. One thing it does show is that Carl can match physically bigger men, but Selby's style may cause him some problems. I think Selby would stay at range, try to use his reach and good boxing skills and be very competitive but eventually Frampton finds a way, think he has more of that 'x-factor'.
Re: WHO WINS? Carl Frampton vs. Lee Selby
Frampton would find a way to beat Selby. Wouldn't be surprised if he knocked him down a couple of times on the way to a comfortable points win.

Frampton is more proven but I reckon selby would cause an upset
Re: WHO WINS? Carl Frampton vs. Lee Selby
Frampton has done the bigger nights and comes with the confidence of having beaten a great deal more quality - a seasoned and successful guy who knows what it takes - and like many of the outstanding lighter weight fighters moving-up as you begin to get older can often be a real bonus and is not a huge problem at all. And if it is a Belfast fight Selby would have to be more progressive and we'd see how he copes with pressure.
Much more interested in this than the Brook-Khan fandango with all its tedious politics/haggling; better fight as well

Re: WHO WINS? Carl Frampton vs. Lee Selby
I think it would be a great fight, the styles would blend well, and I couldn't confidently pick a winner. The Welshmen has a natural size advantage but Frampton is proven at a higher level which for me would ultimately make me lean in his favour.

Isn't that what Scott Quigg tried as well? Sitting back and inviting Carl in - didn't work out too well for him either.PredatorHayds wrote:Frampton likes people coming at him. Selby will backfoot in and out.

I can see Selby throwing a punch in the first 6 rounds thoughCrease wrote:Isn't that what Scott Quigg tried as well? Sitting back and inviting Carl in - didn't work out too well for him either.PredatorHayds wrote:Frampton likes people coming at him. Selby will backfoot in and out.
Re: WHO WINS? Carl Frampton vs. Lee Selby
Leo wasnt a bigger man, he himself had just move up. Selby is much bigger then both of these lads and therefore the size factor is still needs to be considered.GPTM1403 wrote:Much as a close fight I think the Santa Cruz fight proves Frampton can fight against the bigger guys so the edge Selby had might be gone.
Re: WHO WINS? Carl Frampton vs. Lee Selby
Quigg doesnt have a style to make that strategy work. In fact that was recognized as the worst strategy in the fight last year. He must have pressed on from the round one. Selby on the other hand is a defensiveness technician and will be most effective on a back foot.Crease wrote:Isn't that what Scott Quigg tried as well? Yeah, bigger doesnt mean he is going to win. Frampton is a better overall boxer in my opinion.Marlo Stanfield wrote:Tarkus wrote:Leo wasnt a bigger man, he himself had just move up. Selby is a much bigger Featherweight is size. Selby did struggle with Montiel who I think is of similar size to Frampton though

I agree, but Selby being the bigger, heavier & quite possibly stronger man could be a levellerTarkus wrote:Yeah, bigger doesnt mean he is going to win. Re: WHO WINS? Carl Frampton vs. Lee Selby
the more I hear the 2 men talk the stronger feeling I get that if these 2 win on Saturday night then this fight could happen in the summer at Windsor Park (holds approx. 20,000), I'd love it to happen.
Both men would be without a tv contract UK-side leaving it open to a bidding war between Sky Sports, BT and ITV for PPV rights...
