Two fights lost by Roc Nation fighters were gifted to them, and it is laughable? Wake up.Tanzio wrote:Suggesting criminality relating to this particular decision is laughable.boxing_rocks wrote:"Subjectively" is a key word. All 3 gave round 10 to Ward, while I doubt that more than 1 percent of experts would do that. Was it an honest mistake? I strongly doubt. They gave round 10 to Ward, because they had to in order to let him win. Why? That is a question Nevada Sate Prosecutor should be asking.Tanzio wrote: "The Truth" is that total punch stats do not matter (especially since they are so often inaccurate. If the fight goes to a decision the only three things that matter are the three judges subjective opinion of who won the most individual rounds combined with the number of knockdowns and the number of points lost by penalty.
The truth is that the three judges subjectively scored 7-5 for Ward. Combined with the point lost by Ward for the knockdown, the subjective scores were unanimous, 114-113 Ward, which my realtime subjective scoring agreed with.
That is "the truth," along with the fact that there are a critical mass of whining bitches on this site.
I was rooting for a Krusher victory, btw.

There's a rematch clause, he won't be ducking it. Lets not pretend Ward has backed away from challenges, he is difficult to negotiate with but he fears nobody.

As fergusg already mentioned, Ward could jump to Showtime and demand that the rematch happen there which would make it close to unrealistic. And of course this time it would have to be in Oakland with a more than friendly ref.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:There's a rematch clause, he won't be ducking it. There's a rematch clause in the contract which stipulates the fight has to be held in neutral territory.boxing_rocks wrote:As fergusg already mentioned, Ward could jump to Showtime and demand that the rematch happen there which would make it close to unrealistic. Since you asked - Americans don't care about boxing. Very very few do. Can you really blame them these days? The best American athletes grow up playing more lucrative sports like football and basketball and baseball- where it's much more possible to make a ton of money for the top tier athlete. Boxing is higher on the totem poll in other countries than the US. Soccer is #1 globally but boxing isn't as far behind in other countries - Mexico, UK, Russia for example. In the US it doesn't even sniff the top 5 for casuals.digzee wrote:Do Americans take anything seriously? They don't even take politics seriously. You talk like boxing is the most important sport in Europe when in fact its a minority sport.diddy wrote:I can't tell you how shocked I am that a bunch of imbeciles who are ignorant enough to criticize Andre Ward as a man outside the ring would also call this a "robbery". You clearly don't know what a robbery is. If you follow boxing you would know what a real robbery is. Such emotional little bitches in here. CANT take it when an American excels at a sport that Americans don't ever care about. Makes their blood boil.
How did you score the Hooker-Perez fight?
Kovalev wasn't robbed he just faded at the end, Ward's 12 round experience won him the fight.

The problem, as much as anything else, is the lack of consistency across judging, one fight contentious, give it to the guy making the fight, the next give it to the guy spoiling, there's no way anyone can even guess in a close fight what judges are going to score. When you get that followed by a clear bias in judging nationality (why do other sports have neutral official FFS) then of course people feel it is a robbery. And don't assume Ward will make the rematch or stick to it being done fairly - a guy who claims this was the first time he was ever knocked down, when it isn't, will definitely be taking the view I won the first fight and don't owe him anything. I'd also say no way Kovalev was going to win that fight without a dominant performance. I suspect he knows that as well and any rematch will be more aggressive on his side.

Most boxing website polls have over 70% scoring it for Kovalev.

Since 7 years ago when I was curious about the boxing decisions I learnt about and now all my scorecards I try to analyse based on the (as far as I know) the official "The Four Components of Scoring" (Clean punching, Effective aggressiveness, Ring generalship and Defense).
For more information read - http://boxing.isport.com/boxing-guides/ ... stem-works
Or - http://www.premierboxingchampions.com/n ... core-fight
My personal scorecard was:
Round - 1 Kovalev
Round - 2 Kovalev (+ the KO on Ward)
Round - 3 Kovalev (ward close to win)
Round - 4 Kovalev
Round - 5 Ward
Round - 6 Kovalev
Round - 7 Kovalev (ward close to win)
Round - 8 Ward (Kovalev close to win)
Round - 9 Ward
Round - 10 Ward (Best round IMO)
Round - 11 Ward
Round - 12 Ward
FINAL RESULT - 114-113 Kovalev
* Compubox punchstat showed a better conected punching for Ward, that is the component (Clean Punching) which gave him a good credit as well as his (Defense) but it wasnt enough for a win like that result... To not say an average (Ring Generalship) and below average (Effective aggressiveness).
* I personally was rooting for Ward since his boxing is much more technical than Kovalev's and even I don't agree with the official result, but it can't be called robbery but instead, a controversial result. Robbery is a too distant and wide open result as happened in Pacman vs Bradley, Erislandy Lara vs Paul Williams, Whitaker vs Chavez or more less recent Nicholas Walters vs Jason Sosa. Obvious winners that didn't deserve the loss or draw.
