All honorable, honest and unbiased people scored it for Kovalev.
It was definitely a robbery.

Re: 60 media scores for Kovalev vs Ward
i watched on HBO and thought that Kellerman was very biased with Ward. Lampley kept disagreeing with him , Jones scored for Kovalev and Lederman had it 116-111 Kovalev
Re: 60 media scores for Kovalev vs Ward
73% of media were wrong plain and simple.
The decision went to Ward.
This decision absolutely was not a robbery, it was a close fight that could have went either way and now their are a lot of whiners who can't handle the fact that it didn't go their way.

Re: 60 media scores for Kovalev vs Ward
Hilarity won by a million votes, but she lost according to the rules. Boxing is not a democracy. The only three votes that matter went to Ward, and they were accurate.
Check your eastern Euro bias at the door and watch the fight again, with the sound down and breitbart.com off. You will see a relatively close fight that Ward controlled with the exception of one jab in the first round that was nowhere near as formidable as the announcers carried on about, and the knockdown punch.
Ward 115-112 second viewing. It was close but clear. We are simply being setup for the rematch which will likely be a 116-112 or greater win by Ward.
The judges got it right.

Close but clear win for Kovalev is the only result for me. It's unfathomable that anyone can see different. WTF rounds did Ward actually win clearly.

Re: 60 media scores for Kovalev vs Ward
I'm truly surprised by how many people, many of whom are definitely not biased, saw the decision as a robbery.
It was a close, competitive fight. Kovalev clearly won 3 rounds, Ward clearly won 3 rounds, 6 rounds were close and could have fairly been scored for either fighter. Not even close to being a robbery.
I certainly consider myself to be honorable and honest and I wanted Kovalev to win, so if I was at all biased, it was in his favour, yet I scored the fight 114-113 to Ward.Freedom2013 wrote:All honorable, honest and unbiased people scored it for Kovalev.

Ward 115-112 on second viewing with no loud Russians in the room and no sound. Ward won the clearer rounds, with the exception of round 2. Ward landed cleaner. Ward out boxed him. Ward won that fight. It was close but clear, and there is no way in hell that Krusher got robbed.Riddick Blowe wrote:Close but clear win for Kovalev is the only result for me. Ward is P4P #1
1. Ward fairly close
2. 10-8 Krusher
3. Ward
4. Krusher very close
5. Ward close
6. krusher close
7. Ward
8. Ward fairly close
9. Ward
10. Krusher very close
11. Ward
12. Ward
Lederman should be retired. RJJ needs his eyes checked. This was a clear Ward win. If not for the KD, it was very clear. It won't be as close next time.

Round 8. That was it.
Kovalev was so far ahead by round 6 that if the judges gave him anything else it was game over (except ward scoring a kd).
So when Kovalev was the definitive round 10 clearly, the judges just shafted him instead, all going 10-9 Ward.

Re: 60 media scores for Kovalev vs Ward
My scorecard:
Round 1 - Kovalev 10-9 (10-9)
Round 2 - Kovalev 10-8 (20-17)
Round 3 - Ward 10-9 (29-27)
Round 4 - Kovalev 10-9 (39-36)
Round 5 - Ward 10-9 (48-46)
Round 6 - Kovalev 10-9 (58-55)
Round 7 - Ward 10-9 (67-65)
Round 8 - Ward 10-9 (76-75)

Round 10 - Kovalev 10-9 (95-94)
Round 11 - Ward 10-9 (104-104)
Round 12 - Even (114-114)
So, I scored the fight 114-114, a draw. I think there were 4 extremely close rounds - 3,5,6 and 12. I gave 2 of them to Ward, 1 to Kovalev and one even. If we divide those 4 extremely close rounds equally (2-2), Kovalev wins 114-113 on my card.

There is an issue with the scoring. All three judges gave Ward the 10th round. Kovalev clearly won it. Why does this matter? Becuase if the judges gave it correctly to Kovalev, Ward can not win unless he scored a knockdown or stoppage in the 11th or 12th.fightscorecollector wrote:here is 60 press scores i collected for talking boxing , 73% of media scored for Kovalev , my card read 115-112 , i just cant see how you can award Ward anymore than 5 rounds

Re: 60 media scores for Kovalev vs Ward
The following scores were absolutely atrocious:
• Allan Fox (Boxingnews24): 117-110 Kovalev
• Andrew Harrison (Boxing Monthly): 117-111 Kovalev
• Doug Fischer (Ring Magazine): 117-110 Kovalev
• Harold Lederman (HBO): 116-111 Kovalev
• Michael Montero (Montero On Boxing): 116-111 Kovalev
• Tom Craze (BadLeftHook): 116-111 Ward
• Tim Dahlberg (AP): 116-111 Kovalev
• Paul Smith Jnr (Sky Sports): 116-113 Ward
Regardless as to whoever people thought won, the fight was very evenly-matched, with the above scores suggesting clear dominance when there was none.

Re: 60 media scores for Kovalev vs Ward
Doug Fischer (from The Ring website)
I thought Kovalev was robbed, and I let Twitter’s boxing community know it. Now I’ve got all these amateur judges giving me their take on what they called a “close fight that either man could have won.” Bulls__t. If Ward was the defending champion and he dropped Kovalev and dominated as much as the Russian did over the first six rounds, there’s no way in hell he would have lost a decision – especially as competitive as the second half was – NO WAY IN HELL. But Vegas is worse than hell, and Burt Clements, Glen Trowbridge and John McKaie should be ashamed of themselves.
The manner in which the Maurice Hooker-Darleys Perez and Kovalev-Ward fights were scored sent this message to all foreign boxers who fight on American soil: The U.S. boxer will get the benefit of EVERY doubt, and will win every round that is even remotely competitive, and if you do not knock the U.S. boxer out you will NOT win the fight.
I strongly favored Carl Frampton to once again outbox and outclass Leo Santa Cruz in their January rematch, but now I’m concerned about Frampton’s chances due to the return bout taking place in Las Vegas. I have an awful feeling that the Powers That Be are going to steal back that WBA featherweight title. By the way, I thought Kovalev won Round 10.
Re: 60 media scores for Kovalev vs Ward
Since 7 years ago when I was curious about the boxing decisions I learnt about and now all my scorecards I try to analyse based on the (as far as I know) the official "The Four Components of Scoring" (Clean punching, Effective aggressiveness, Ring generalship and Defense).
For more information read - http://boxing.isport.com/boxing-guides/ ... stem-works
Or - http://www.premierboxingchampions.com/n ... core-fight
My personal scorecard was:
Round - 1 Kovalev
Round - 2 Kovalev (+ the KO on Ward)
Round - 3 Kovalev (ward close to win)
Round - 4 Kovalev
Round - 5 Ward
Round - 6 Kovalev
Round - 7 Kovalev (ward close to win)
Round - 8 Ward (Kovalev close to win)
Round - 9 Ward
Round - 10 Ward (Best round IMO)
Round - 11 Ward
Round - 12 Ward
FINAL RESULT - 114-113 Kovalev
* I personally was rooting for Ward since his boxing is much more technical than Kovalev's and even I don't agree with the official result, but it can't be called robbery but instead, a controversial result. Robbery is a too distant and wide open result as happened in Pacman vs Bradley, Erislandy Lara vs Paul Williams, Whitaker vs Chavez or more less recent Nicholas Walters vs Jason Sosa. Obvious winners that didn't deserve the loss or draw.

Nope, I watched and scored the fight live, the whole time hoping that Kovalev would land the KO punch. When waiting for the decision, I had no idea which way it would go, but felt that Ward was the slightly more deserving of the decision.Freedom2013 wrote:You OBVIOUSLY wanted Ward to win for some reason. The judges made a bad call in 1 out of 12 rounds (the 10th) and unfortunately it decided the result of a very close fight.

That's identical to my scorecard, except I thought Ward won the 12th, which gave him a 114-113 win for me.Boxing Writer wrote:My scorecard:

Re: 60 media scores for Kovalev vs Ward
I wanted Ward to win because I predicted him to win in a close fight. It has nothing to do with the color of his skin or his personality. He is the better skilled boxer. I don't hate Kovalev, but after reading the crying, pissing, and moaning, I don't care for most of his fans.
I also predicted a record number of new threads complaining about the loss, which I think is correct too. Grow up and except the result. Next time Krusher can KO Ward, and keep it out of the judges hands like most of you predicted long ago after most of you said Ward wouldn't have the guts to show up.
The rematch will be great, and get ready because Ward will beat Krusher much easier. Kovalev is too one dimensional to do any better.

Re: 60 media scores for Kovalev vs Ward
I thought that at first. But, when you look at the official score cards, all three judges scored a different combo of rounds they gave Ward and Kov. Some were the same, but some were different. So, it's possible to give one fighter a lopsided win when going by a round by round basis. But, when you look at the entire fight, it was somewhat close.Enlightened-One wrote:The following scores were absolutely atrocious:

64 - 36 on the poll on here
57 - 37 with 6% going for a draw on the UK board
and 73% of the media score
It all point toward Kovalev having the better of the fight and he probably should have won it.
But I will maintain, it was a close fight, I can totally see how someone would have scored it for Ward and have no problem with a judge giving him it by a round.
It was probably the wrong call but it was NO ROBBERY!
After all, 35% on here, 37% one the UK board and 25% of the media scored it to Ward, as well as 3 of the 4 officials involved in the contest.
