Who has a better resume?
Who has a better resume?
And why?
Re: Who has a better resume?
Ward have better defensive resume. Actually two excellent 168.
Re: Who has a better resume?
Id say calzaghe but like u say ward got beat by kov i think calzaghe got beat by robin reid and bernard hopkins but on the whole calzaghe is better than ward and more exciting to watchginty wrote:hard to answer because i thought ward lost vs kovalev but he has a W on his record i guess their big wins are similar calzaghe over kessler / hopkins and ward over froch if he had beat kovalev i'd say ward but i think he lost so i'm going for calzaghe

Re: Who has a better resume?
Ward has a comprehensive beating of Paul Smith on his record. That's worth 10 Jeff Lacy fights on its own

Sometimes we dont appreciate a fighter till a few years after they retire,i was the same with naz eubank lewis and calzagheginty wrote:i agree obviously wards win in the super six is very good but he hasn't done much sincethechump wrote:Id say calzaghe but like u say ward got beat by kov i think calzaghe got beat by robin reid and bernard hopkins but on the whole calzaghe is better than ward and more exciting to watchginty wrote:hard to answer because i thought ward lost vs kovalev but he has a W on his record i guess their big wins are similar calzaghe over kessler / hopkins and ward over froch if he had beat kovalev i'd say ward but i think he lost so i'm going for calzaghe

Amen to that bruvBoxerbeetle wrote:Ward has a comprehensive beating of Paul Smith on his record. That's worth 10 Jeff Lacy fights on its own
Re: Who has a better resume?
Andre Ward
Carl Froch
Mikkel Kessler
Sergey Kovalev
Arthur Abraham
Chad Dawson
Sakio Bika
Allan Green
Edwin Rodriguez
Paul Smith
Edison Miranda
Joe Calzaghe
Bernard Hopkins
Mikkel Kessler
Jeff Lacy
Richie Woodhall
Robin Reid
Chris Eubank
Byron Mitchell
Roy Jones Jr
Sakio Bika
David Starie
It's a close one, but I'm going with Calzaghe. If Ward had beaten Kovalev properly then I'd probably go with him.

Re: Who has a better resume?
Ward likely has a few good years left in him. If he can remain unbeaten, beat Kovalev again then beat someone like Stevenson, his record will surpass Calzaghe's for me.

Yes, it's a few big ifs, but Ward definitely has the ability to do it. Although it's equally as likely that he gets into another contractual dispute and becomes inactive again.Horse wrote:That's a big if.Boxerbeetle wrote:Ward likely has a few good years left in him. Re: Who has a better resume?
Can you stop with the Ward-Calzaghe questions. As a Welshman I'm in danger of being deported.
I'd edge Ward. There's not much in it but Ward still has time to add a few names up there.
IF he does a job on Kovalev in the rematch, with all the controversy over the first fight his stock will skyrocket.

Ward. Comfortably beat Froch and Kessler, which eclipses Joes best at 168 and beating Kovalev eclipses Hopkins at 175.
Against each other prime for prime? I actually think style wise it favours Joe. I think he'd do well against Ward

Re: Who has a better resume?
yeah me too, I think those fast combos that joe slapped away with would work well vs Ward's ducking and diving. messy but joe takes it.lillywhite14 wrote:Ward. Comfortably beat Froch and Kessler, which eclipses Joes best at 168 and beating Kovalev eclipses Hopkins at 175.

kovalev would have crushed joe imo.
