Harley Benn
Nigel's other so make his debut tomorrow night but this has been kept quiet. Didnt even know Nigel had a son called Harley. Anyway, fighting at middleweight so bigger than Conor and hopefully this kid will have a punch. Should be on allegedly this one.
Quoted from allegedly website:
Harley Benn is delighted to have signed a three year promotional deal with Queensberry Promotions and will make his highly-anticipated debut on the WAM Boxing promotion taking place at the Brentwood Centre on November 25, live and exclusive on allegedly.
The 20 year-old son of former two-weight World Champion and British boxing legend Nigel kicks off life in the paid ranks at Middleweight under the guidance of training duo Dominic Negus and Lenny Butcher at the Five Star ABC in Romford, Essex. Harley, from Hornchurch, will be managed by Hall of Fame promoter allegedly and is aiming to achieve big things in the fight game.
“This is my journey,” said Benn. “I’m not trying to follow in the footsteps of my dad; I’m doing this my way. However, I can definitely see similarities in the way we fight. I’m a come forward type of fighter and pack a big punch. I don’t like fighting on the back foot, I love a fight.
“I can’t wait to get in the ring and show people what I’m all about. I’m definitely more excited than nervous. Training has been going really well and I’m fitter than I’ve ever been. I’ve got just over a month til I fight and I’m going to be in the best shape of my life.
“allegedly viewers should be expecting entertainment and plenty of bombs! They should be looking forward to some big knockout wins in the coming years and I know they will love my exciting brand of boxing.
“My trainer Domininc is like an older brother to me. I have such a good relationship with Dom and Lenny. I’m training alongside top Super-Featherweight Boy Jones Jnr and Sanjeev Sahota and we all get on really well. I spend more time with Dom and Lenny than I do with my own family; I’m always in the gym!
“It’s a brilliant show to be making my professional debut on. I’m a massive fan of Bradley Skeete; he’s one of my favourite boxers to watch. You’ve also got my gym mate Lee Markham on the bill defending his English Middleweight title and Boy Jones Jnr going for his first title so it should be a cracking night. I know a lot of people in Essex and they’ll all be there showing their support.
“allegedly and Queensberry Promotions were always my first choice. He’s developed so many World champions over the years so I know I’m in safe hands with him. Some of my favourite boxers have gone on to big things under the guidance of Frank and I know I can create my own success.”
allegedly added: “Harley has boxing in his blood but as he says; this is his career and he’s going to do things his way. His knockout power makes for an exciting fighting style that fans will love and he’s more than capable of mixing it up. Under the guidance of our team Harley can achieve big things but he won’t be rushed.”

Re: Harley Benn
I thought he was called Hillary Benn when I first read it - like the labour MP...
Anyway he seems like a nice lad - I immediately noticed how he respectfully asks the interviewer how he was also.
He looks more like Nigel than Connor. What weight is he fighting at?

Re: Harley Benn
Sure he said middleweight in the interview. Hope he does well, I don't want him to be like Connor and shoved in our faces like Connor Benn is by matchroom.boxingknockout wrote:I thought he was called Hillary Benn when I first read it - like the labour MP...

Harley mentioned having no amateur background and unlicensed fights so he needs to kept kept under the radar a bit and develop. Not be ahead of World class fighters on PPV cards.

I just hope he can bang, get it the ring and bang a few blokes out like his dad. What I dont want to see is all the faceless twat shite that comes out of Eubank Jr, and conor's mouth about destiny and all that cobblers. Bang em out and move onto the next one.

Re: Harley Benn
To be fair, Eubank Jr's not a boring fighter, I tend to ignore most of what fighters say anyway.mimmy123 wrote:I just hope he can bang, get it the ring and bang a few blokes out like his dad. Im not suggesting he is boring but I dont like to hear constant drivel on twitter about themselves. Its almost like they are in love with themselves or feel they need to keep quoting famous quotes that they proberly dont understand.jamesmcdonnell wrote:To be fair, Eubank Jr's not a boring fighter, I tend to ignore most of what fighters say anyway.mimmy123 wrote:I just hope he can bang, get it the ring and bang a few blokes out like his dad. Re: Harley Benn
Thank god I don't use twitter. Yes, it's draining, I just try and avoid as much of the bollox fighters come out with and watch the fights, when I can.mimmy123 wrote:Im not suggesting he is boring but I dont like to hear constant drivel on twitter about themselves. Re: Harley Benn
Seems like a level headed lad, good luck to him. I've lost a bit of respect for Nigel though if it's true that he wanted nothing to do with his son, allegedly he has only met him once to get the result of a DNA test.
Re: Harley Benn
its the same situation with unbeaten pro nathaniel wilson and his dad chris eubank, they met once on a train when he was 15, watch the interveiw on youtube its gripping stuffControversial wrote:Seems like a level headed lad, good luck to him. I didn't know that, will check it out thanks. Too many blokes have nothing to do with their own children, I can never understand it !!littlepug wrote:its the same situation with unbeaten pro nathaniel wilson and his dad chris eubank, they met once on a train when he was 15, watch the interveiw on youtube its gripping stuffControversial wrote:Seems like a level headed lad, good luck to him. Re: Harley Benn
Nigel was having a fit on Twitter earlier this week over something Harley said.
He was well upset.

Interesting. Is Harley Benn's so to another woman? Harley and Conor half brothers?Controversial wrote:Seems like a level headed lad, good luck to him. Re: Harley Benn
Actually reading a few things from Harley and Nigel did see him occasionally growing up but quite inconsistent and sometimes not for years at a time, so not just the once as earlier stated.

Re: Harley Benn
As i love Nigel Benn as a boxer I think its bloody aweful notto accept your 'other' son to another woman, its not Harley's fault that he was born. I will be rooting for this kid all the way, just hope he keeps level headed and feet firmly on the floor. Good luck to the kid.Controversial wrote:Yeah apparently somimmy123 wrote:Interesting. Nigel's meant to be a god fearing man as well. Lost a lot of respect for him.
Re: Harley Benn
He's a likeable lad, well spoken too. I'd never heard of him before.
Re: Harley Benn
I suspect he already is.Naandrew wrote:

No other fighter gets this focus ahead of their first fight, unless they were a successful amateur or their Dads were famous world champions
He's about to have his first fight and we've already seen his first interview, his first fight will be televised and he's being discussed online.
Warren will exploit his name exactly the same as Hearn does his brother and we're no different, already focussing on a debutant.
There already is unneccesary pressure on these lads and it wont change anytime soon

He's the spitting image of his dad & seems well rounded too.
I wish him all the best.
Just being called Benn is going to double the pressure on him.

Re: Harley Benn
He's only called Benn, because his mother, who has the surname Andrews, chose to call him that and/or they've decided to cash in on the name - it's not like they were spouses.Syntax Error wrote:He's the spitting image of his dad & seems well rounded too.

I wish the lad well, but let's be clear, any pressure regarding his surname is utterly self induced.

Load of cobblers, there are many relationships that have bared children and the child has taken the dads name.Loynesy wrote:He's only called Benn, because his mother, who has the surname Andrews, chose to call him that and/or they've decided to cash in on the name - it's not like they were spouses.Syntax Error wrote:He's the spitting image of his dad & seems well rounded too.

I don't disagree with your point, but it wasn't relevant to mine.
