3rd round of Jezzamundo's dream heavyweight tournament

Post by jezzamundo »

Results from the first round are:

Ali UD12 Lewis
Louis TKO11 Frazier
Holmes UD12 Marciano
Foreman KO5 Tyson

So the points table reads:

1. Foreman 6 points
1. Louis 6 points
3. Ali 4 points
4. Holmes 2 points
5. Frazier - 4 points
5. Lewis - 4 points
5. Marciano - 4 points
8. Tyson - 6 points

The next round of fights are:

Ali vs Frazier
Louis vs Marciano
Holmes vs Foreman
Lewis vs Tyson

Remember, this is a premier league style event and not a knockout competition. Once all fighters have fought each other twice the tournament is over and the fighter with the most points is the ultimate champion! Fights are 12 rounds, not 15, and fighters use 10 ounce gloves (not that I think that would make a real difference to any of the fights). For those who didn't read the first topic, these are 7 of my top 8 all-time heavies, I rate Tyson 12th from memory, but I found him just too interesting a fighter to leave out.

Ali UD over Frazier Which if you distill all their bouts is what you get.

Louis UD over Marciano In reality Louis was just too old to use that matchup as the guideline.

Foreman TKO over Holmes round 6 I'm probably in the minority here.

I see no reason to rewrite History on the Lewis, Tyson matchup so refer to reality on that one.

Interesting Math BB It's astonishing to me that Mike's Peak is purely and only about his physics.....Most fighter mature mentally and have their peaks when physics and maturity are in some kind of balance.

I do think your right though. And for that reason I stand by my call. But Mike is sort of like Marciano, right up until he goes to Tokyo. If your thinking of those days when he was undefeated he sort of has his own X factor.
