Ward vs clark
Re: Ward vs clark
They have said no chance .. If Ronnie was the "Home" fighter the scorecards would of been 117-110 in Ronnie's favour.. The first 7 rounds were close but no way Ward won them all.. Ronnie only needed 1 of all those very close rounds.. I understand people watching on TV may have been swayed best score for Ward being a bit favouring his work was 114-113 Clark.. Ronnie out fought him and we out sang them #BallersHorse wrote:Rematch!

What a suprise.
Clark was 'robbed'.
Lucky for us this time it was on sky so everyone can have an opinion not just his team.

After speaking with Ronnie Clark at shows in Glasgow and Edinburgh I have a real soft spot for him but mate please take of those rose tinted spectacles. Ronnie started slow and I'm sure you will agree with old saying that 'you have to rip the belt from the champion' by giving away rounds and not throwing enough punches Ronnie Clark and his team will have nobody to blame but themselves for what happened last night. He is a self confessed gym rat so why did he not start the fight at a high pace and take MJW out of his comfort zone?
Ronnie Clark wasn't troubled by anything that MJW did all night so as i have said Ronnie Clark and his team can only look at themselves for what transpired last night. If I'm perfectly honest I didn't hear much from his cornermen to help him either. It was like it was their first time working together and neither of them knew the capabilities of the other.
If there was to be a rematch then I think that Ronnie Clark could well get the win but what does he bring to the table after last night to warrant it? Knocking him down and winning a couple of late rounds? Sorry Davidee but Ronnie had the perfect opportunity last night to be bigger than Dick McTaggart in Dundee but once again he has fallen short.
Anyway all the best to Ronnie clark in the future and i hope that he gets another chance at a title soon
Re: Ward vs clark
Watched this fight with a Russian guy with the sound of, we both scored it to Clarke, no way Ward won the first 6 rounds.
I personally had it six rounds each with the 10-8 round Ronnie got giving him the title by one point.
Clarke had him buzzing and iut on his feet twice In the fight. Watches it again this morning and the commentary was a joke.

^^ I predict that daviddee will not, in fact, agree that you "have to rip the belt from the champion" or whatever you just said.
At least, until Ronnie has a belt to defend.

Re: Ward vs clark
You know what you're going to get in a thread like this, and there's some comfort to be had in that. It's a bit like reading an opinion piece by Paul Smith on who the best fighters are without a world title in the light-middle and super feather divisions.
Clarke gave a great account of himself, but lost too much ground in the earlier rounds to make up without multiple knockdowns IMO. I watch Sky (and BN) bills with the sound off - so came to that conclusion without their influence.

Re: Ward vs clark
I am just back and decided to count punches landed after all that's what boxing is about isn't it???
If anyone thinks Ward won that fight go to that you will be in for a massive surprise.. Ronnie's defence is superb barely gets hit takes most on gloves or ducks and slips.. Ronnie was punching through Wards guard and was smashing the body shots in... This fight isn't close people need to stop this bullshit that happens in boxing "Riping Belts Away" having to knock a fighter out to get a draw.. The man who lands the most punches should win..
How many meaningful punches did Ward land in the whole fight?? You will struggle to get above 20 Ronnie hits That amount in 1 round.. I love boxing but hate this part of it. Go someone take the challenge count punches landed and tell me who wins

You are biased, can you not see that?
Look at the general opinion around Twitter and forums from neutral fans.and don't blame sky commentary or the home town judges.just look...

Re: Ward vs clark
It is pretty even throughout all social media.. Ward did not win the first 6 rounds they rounds were close.. How is 116-112 or115-113 possible Ronnie won everything after 8.. The last 5 rounds were clear rounds to Ronnie and he got a knock down.. He took at least 1 of the first 7.. Go count the punches you will be surprised.. Ward misses a lot all fight.. The reason the wheels came off was Ronnie's body punching in the first half of the fight took its toll.. Ward was dead on his feet at the final bell 1 more minute and he would of been asleep...Ginger one to watch wrote:You are biased, can you not see that?

The Sky commentary is miles out in the first 7 rounds.. I said it today they are paid by Matchroom/Sky to commentate.. Darren Barker is Wards mate.. Commentary always makes peoples minds up. Going on punches landed this fight isn't even close.. Judges want work so why rock the boat?? Count the punches landed

I was at the fight. I had no dog in the fight. I made it 114-113 to Ward. Most people round me thought Clark left it too late.
It's a disgrace that Cacace isn't up next.

I gave to agree - it also doesn't matter what people watching think or what people are saying on social media, all that matters is what the judges think.Counter-puncher wrote:^^ I predict that daviddee will not, in fact, agree that you "have to rip the belt from the champion" or whatever you just said.

From what I have read in this site Ronnie hasn't been given many favours in the past and then he gets a late notice shot on an away show - everybody on the world knows the score.
Under those conditions why did he make such a slow start? It doesn't make sense.
This could have been his only shot at the British title and he should have adopted a shit or bust approach.
Re: Ward vs clark
The result will stand and people have opinions. Some well known boxers thought Ronnie won it, we spoke to Dave coldwell at breakfast and he felt that ward nicked it. Ronnie has done himself justice and in my opinion will come again. Having a full time trainer has really helped and they have only been together around 2 months or so and his movement etc all just coming together. He's a gym
Rat and hasn't been in many wars. He's still fresh for his age. Ronnies defence is often not appreciated but end of day right or not you need to snatch the belt, he could have put it on him earlier possibly. Ronnie will continue to do what he does. Martin ward believed this was going to
Be a massacre, we told him and everyone on here, nobody has seen the best of Ronnie, we keep working hard!! John Wayne hibbert spoke to us this morning also and was saying to get to this level with only boxing 5 years is excellent. It's not how you start the race it's how you end it. All the best to team ward and I hope that they do not vacate and duck cacace when the time is there because having the minerals is a key component to being a champion.

Re: Ward vs clark
My gripe with this,is we are always meant to feel for the plucky and game ronnie, but you never seem to give any respect due to the likes of martin j ward or craig evans.
If ronnie does so well in his losing performances, how about you give credit to the guys who have beat him and achieved more.questioning their 'minerals' is just a joke when you expect everyone to give ronnie a break.

Re: Ward vs clark
Mate are you for real? I said if he ducks cacace then he lacks minerals. It's a fact that he's ducking him same as they all are. To be the best you need to beat the best. 7. All complain about mismatches and serious injuries etc but don't force it. The top 10 should all be fighting each other .english, Scottish and area titles should all hold value and set up amazing domestic match ups. Isn't an insult ward is a great fighter, as is Evans but while we spoon feed certain fighters it's just going to have a negative effect when stepped up. I would say most of the favourites on that card fell short of expectations matchroom have on them
Re: Ward vs clark
It's a disgrace that Cacace somehow finds himself mandatory for the winner of Ward-Hughes III, he's got one decent win on his record, the rest are against journeymen and hasn't won an eliminator, the only way he should be getting near a British title fight is if he gets a voluntary shot thrown his way.slapbangwhallop wrote:I was at the fight. They say everyone is ducking cacace simply because he is the only one that stopped ronnie so they rate him above everyone.
Has martin j ward said he won't fight cacace? Why are you questioning his 'minerals'?

Re: Ward vs clark
I think Craig Evans is a fantastic fighter always have still do. I also believe he was weight drained v Ronnie that's why he wasn't at his best... He ran and that's maybe because he felt weak..Ginger one to watch wrote:My gripe with this,is we are always meant to feel for the plucky and game ronnie, but you never seem to give any respect due to the likes of martin j ward or craig evans.

As for Martin J Ward.. I think Ronnie won the fight and well. In saying that Ward is a very good boxer I thought the styles meshed well and we seen Ronnie show how good he can be.. Defensively he barely gets hit and that's the aim of the game.. Wards movement was excellent and he done well to not get stopped in the last 3 rounds he took some big shots and his chin is very good.. I don't believe they are avoiding Cacace just got good management and putting him in a better position. Styles make fights..
As just said Ronnie has boxer for 5 years it's a totally different skill set to kickboxing and he has taken a while to adjust but now he's getting there..
He's an exciting boxer who is a proper character he should be on TV all the time

I have no problem with clark, but I think you 2 don't do him any favours.
Id say you are sore losers.which is ironic as ronnie seems anything but and seemed embarassed by the reaction from his followers when the cards were read out.did someone throw something into the ring?

Re: Ward vs clark
Sore losers?? If it's fair I would accept no problem.. We see the hard times he goes through because of this sport. it's the most unfair sport I know.. It's very easy to have a level playing field but the choice is not made..Ginger one to watch wrote:I have no problem with clark, but I think you 2 don't do him any favours.

As for throwing something into the ring I seen that and if that was one of our fans I think it's disgusting. Couldn't see anyone reaching the ring from the tiers but of a distance.. I know the security were up I had a word to see if we can help.. There was a fair few people boo'ing the result.. I felt we behaved well sang throughout as you hear on Sky and looked good in our Electric Yellow

Cacace knocks out Clark. Ward then fights Clark and almost gets beat.
Ward already holds a win over Hughes, who hasn't a great record himself. Ward faces Hughes next.
I can see how Cacace is undeserving alright.
Aanyway, good luck to Maxi and Martin. Cacace will be waiting for the victory.

Re: Ward vs clark
My initial reaction was a tight win to Ward. Watched it again last night, no sound, could see a 114-113 ward as I gave him the first 7. He landed cleaner and more often. Ronnie seemed to have the distance measured for avoiding the jab, but ward kept catching him with the follow up right. I think Ronnie needed to close the distance to land more. 8 Onwards was Ronnie's, caught him at will with them lovely short hooks and pretty much had him for the taking. Ward did well to keep on the move.
I say all of that as a Ronnie Clark fan (purely down to this forum!!). He'll keep improving and would win a re-match (obviously unlikely it'll ever happen).

I had Clark winning by one.
Commentary was some of the worst I've ever seen.
You'd of thought Ward was Sugar Ray Robinson with how Barker and Coldwell were talking.
