Next for Loma: Salido II, Corrales, Vargas or Pedraza ?

Post by apollo creed »

I'd prefer to see Loma taking Salido and whoop his asss then fight Corrales or go at lw for Linares. :box:

Any of the above, below or in his current weight class. I just want to see him stay active. He is a pleasure to observe creating works of art.

Would take any of those options, or Jason Sosa. I know the Walters draw was bogus but he got off the canvas to KO an undefeated Javier Fortuna, which is no joke.

Also maybe Uchiyama if he avenges the Corrales loss.

Or he could go back to 126 (or a catchweight) and fight Frampton.

1) Corrales - actual best opponent. Assuming he beats Uchiyama in the rematch, he will have 2x wins over Uchiyama and be borderline elite.
2) Pedraza - definitely inferior achievements to Corrales. Undefeated though,
3) Sosa - Lomachenko already beat Walters. He doesn't need to start fighting all of the guys who tied with Walters. Sosa is still a great opponent, though.
4) Barthelemy - An immediate move-up in weight is not necessarily preferred, but so what? It would be a big fight. Much more competitive than anything at SFW.
5) Flanagan - Same as 4, but slightly worse opponent.
6) Linares - Same as 5, but debatably worse opponent. Maybe better.
7) Vargas - Assuming that Lomachenko would beat Salido in a rematch, he probably doesn't need to fight other dudes who drew with Salido. But all things being equal (Vargas and Salido pretty much are equal), I would rather Lomachenko fight someone new than someone old.
8) Salido - If Lomachenko has improved at all, then he should be able to win the rematch. This would just be a vanity fight to soothe the ego of Lomachenko's fans. Everyone else doesn't need to see a rematch to guess who would win. Salido isn't even on top of his own game anymore; he's been losing and drawing numerous times since the Lomachenko fight.
9) Miguel Roman - He's on a respectable run, but like... he just hasn't being doing big things like these other guys.

I see things pretty much the same way. If Garcia beats Zlat he'd make a hell of an opponent at 135 (not that Loma HAS to move up again).

I'm probably a bigger fan of Salido than Loma (been in more fun fights) but even I don't need to see a rematch to know that current day Vasyl is much better. He he goes for revenge so be it, but there are more interesting fights out there for both.

I think he should right the wrong of Salido, 120-108 style. And I think he could. I love Orlando but he should never have been a serious threat to Loma and that will stick in his craw a little

That fight aside, I'd quite happily have seen him fighting at featherweight. I think it's a deeper division with some cracking scraps for him to showcase his skills.

SFW doesn't have the depth and neither does LW.
I have my doubts he'll have the frame to go to LWW and there's no one there to get excited about either when Crawford moves up
And WW is a huge ask for him but that's the next division where you can see a real depth in talent.

I think it's too much to ask for Loma and I'd happily see him drop back down for a few top quality fights with the likes of Frampton, LSC, Valdes etc. I even think Mares could be fun and wouldn'tr complain at seeing him take on Russell jr again

Vargas, Corrales and Pedraza aren't fights I can get too excited about. (Why oh why has Vargas vs Salido 2 not been made)

My top choices at 130 are Corrales if he beats Uchiyama again, and Pedraza if he beats Davis, though in the latter case there would be a Haymon-HBO barrier.

I don't mind a Salido rematch and it's still a significant fight for Loma. IMO Salido beat Vargas last time out, so I think he's still a good fighter, and Loma has the chance to make a statement about how much he's improved since losing. Loma is highly praised overall, but I still see regularly see people hold the loss against him (I'd bet that many of those people complain about record padding, yet hold an attitude which encourages it), and turning the tables would be a good way to reduce lingering doubts and criticisms.

Salido II no matter what and then Corrales.

I heard something about Gamboa but tbh he would be just a good name-trophy on Loma's resume and nothing more.

Loma vs Crawford at 137 lbs cw would be my dream fight. :OhYes: :box:

Pedraza won't be an option. He's about to lose to Gervonte Davis.

I think he has to fight Salido at some point. If he wins the rematch, which I'd fully expect him to, he could then say he has beaten every man he has ever faced in a 400+ fight career.
