If the numbers were bad, it's not the fighters' fault. It was a great scrap and they both deserved to be very well paid for it. The promoters should have done a better job selling it.

You previously claimed you obtained your knowledge about the financials of PPV events from Bob Arum, but yet you conveniently denounce this information if it doesn't concur with your preferred perception of reality.

It has already been confirmed that En-1 is no Rover.

The fact that a fighter with Ward's record, a former Olympic champion can't draw sh*t in his own country is definitely a result of how boring he is in and outside of the ring and his level of opposition in the last 5 years.

And the cost of the bribe for the judges was also omitted.

Sure, you're in the majority on this forum. They seem to love trying to do Ward down for whatever reason. Ward is the real deal and a good role model but no-one seems to care about that. And another thing, the Kov decision wasn't a robbery, it could have gone either way. I suppose it's Ward's fault he got the nod for that as well (at least on this forum). I even saw a thread earlier claiming there was no way he was going to give Kov a rematch. I mean for FFS! That thread wasn't even worth answering. By the way, the fight was a cracker, the best PPV I've seen for a while. Whoever bought it got value for their money.

The fight wasn't bad, but previous Ward's fights were ones which bored people to death and had them keep their wallets closed. If rematch happens, it will do better due to the robbery related adversity. And yes, it was definitely a robbery. Even with all close rounds given to Ward, all 3 judges still had to also give him the 10th clearly won by Kovalev. That obvious deliberate cheating makes it a robbery.

That's cause it was made in advance. Guesswork, as many threads tend to be. But well informed and based on common sense, so figures you'd complain

The thread was poorly sourced but it was based on this

http://www.BS.com/ward-kovalev ... nt--111104
"But one thing that the Kovalev team has to understand, the negotiations are going to be different now. We're negotiating from a place of strength. I'm the champion and he's the challenger now. If everybody can come to the table with that understanding, something can get done for sure."
As the challenger he got 2 tuneups, a lopsided 5m purse, home turf and friendly judges. What do you think think he wants from his new position of strength?

Imo it was a good fight, with extra tension, significance, at high skill level. But all of those are lost on the casuals, who you're hoping to sell the Ppv to. The few that bought, doubt they're coming back for more if that's the best that boxing can offer. Dire undercard, controversial decision don't help.

I'm guessing many of these are overseas posters who don't understand the US scene, and guys like fergusg who don't understand much at all

If Ward does not do his part to make the rematch happen, I will eviscerate him for it on this forum. Krusher deserves a timely rematch, and so does the entire boxing community. Krusher deserves to be treated fairly in negotiations based on the fact that he lost his belts in a very close decision that could have gone either way.

Ward is a tough negotiator but sometimes negotiating too ruthlessly actually costs you more when the contract is actually executed. That does not mean that Ward should negotiate from a position of relative weakness. He needs to strike a solid and fair deal that will be win-win for all concerned, including the industry as a whole.
