WBA interim titles
I suggest that when the vacant WBA title is contested - e,g the recent superwelterweight one in Argentina - you indicate that it is vacant, as you do for all other variants.
Re: WBA interim titles
An interim title cannot be vacant just like a regular title, it can only be non-existant if nobody holds it, because an interim title is not supposed to be there, but rather the opposite...
Re: WBA interim titles
Vacant interim title doesn't exist & never has unless it's WBC, which is now Silver title, to give it a bit of class & it inherits bit more sanction $$$. WBC claims "interim" title was abused, therefore it was ditchedKevinabatchelor wrote:I suggest that when the vacant WBA title is contested - e,g the recent superwelterweight one in Argentina - you indicate that it is vacant, as you do for all other variants.
Re: WBA interim titles
If that is the case, how come the forthcoming Alexander Povetkin v Bermane Stiverne contest on 17th December is listed on the Boxrec schedule as being for the WBC 'interim' title?AntonS wrote:Vacant interim title doesn't exist & never has unless it's WBC, which is now Silver title, to give it a bit of class & it inherits bit more sanction $$$. Povetkin-Stiverne is also mentioned as being for the 'interim' title on the WBC website. Here is the link:

The current WBC 'Silver' champion is Johann Duhaupas who is supposed to be defending that belt against Carlos Takam in the new year.

That's because they never ditched it... A few days ago, there was even a fight at welterweight for the "interim Silver" title... which was not a first.SteveO wrote:If that is the case, how come the forthcoming Alexander Povetkin v Bermane Stiverne contest on 17th December is listed on the Boxrec schedule as being for the WBC 'interim' title?AntonS wrote:Vacant interim title doesn't exist & never has unless it's WBC, which is now Silver title, to give it a bit of class & it inherits bit more sanction $$$. Re: WBA interim titles
Iam saying there's no such thing as vacant interim title in any organisation.SteveO wrote:If that is the case, how come the forthcoming Alexander Povetkin v Bermane Stiverne contest on 17th December is listed on the Boxrec schedule as being for the WBC 'interim' title?AntonS wrote:Vacant interim title doesn't exist & never has unless it's WBC, which is now Silver title, to give it a bit of class & it inherits bit more sanction $$$. Okay, but that's the bit that was confusing.AntonS wrote:Iam saying there's no such thing as vacant interim title in any organisation.SteveO wrote:AntonS wrote:WBC claims "interim" title was abused, therefore it was ditched
Re: WBA interim titles
It's not confusing - just absurd

6000 boxing belts worldwide: one of the biggest boxing statistics site called “boxrec” has produce a list of titles and they calculated around 350 little known titles at different levels of boxing pyramid alongside 4 major titles, now there are around 17 weight classes and multiply 350 to 17 and you get around 6000 belts floating around world of boxing from lower levels to elite level of boxing.

Re: WBA interim titles
At the same boxrec.com does not have WBA Asia, IBF Asia and new IBF titles http://www.BS.com/ebp-new-sanc ... on--111225
I do not think that IBF titles (that boxrec does not have ) are worse than some UBF Europe or WBC Francophone (that boxrec has), contested by boxers like Roman Shkarupa from Ukraine. Is Ukraine new francophone country?
Fair thing would have been or have all titles in system or delete them all
At the moment some titles that boxrec has are considered better than other titles that boxrec does not have with no explained logic.
Some official statement is definitely needed to stop conversations about favoritism towards WBC or other conversations
At least all region versions of main 4 titles must be in the system to avoid misunderstandings

Re: WBA interim titles
THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF TITLES AND BELTS IN THE WORLD. BOXREC DOESN'T HAVE THEM ALL IN THE SYSTEM AND I THINK THEY SHOULD DUMP THEM OUT OF THE SYSTEM AS TO NOT SHOW FAVORITISM AND TITLE FIGHTS AND TITLES SHOULD JUST BE WRITTEN BY EDITORS IN THE REMARK SECTION OF THE FIGHTS.
SUCH AS WBC MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE
NEW YORK STATE WELTER WEIGHT TITLE
OR ANY OTHER TITLE TREATED THE SAME.
THE REMARK SECTION IS JUST FINE FOR TITLES TO BE RECORDED. WHY TREAT BOXING HISTORY AS ONLY CERTAIN TITLES ARE HISTORY TO EACH FIGHTER.
THIS WOULD CLEAN UP THE CLOTTER BOXREC HAS FOR ABC'S AND OTHER TITLES.

Re: WBA interim titles
In my opinion ALL titles should be listed.
They are usually important to the boxers that won them.

Re: WBA interim titles
I get several requests a month to include new titles, such as the Very Economic Boxing Championship, the Super Cheap World Boxing Championship and so on, are really you suggesting we should put them in ?SteveO wrote:In my opinion ALL titles should be listed.

Re: WBA interim titles
I insist you insert World Boxing Society. It's gonna be HUGE 10 years from now ![[icon_wink.gif] ;-)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)

At least all regional versions of main 4 titles WBC WBA IBF and WBO must be inserted.
No one can understand why WBC Francophone is better than IBF Asia.

Re: WBA interim titles
At the very least, the minor sanctioning bodies 'world' titles should be included.
For example, the WBU (Germany) world titles are listed on Boxrec but not the WBU (USA) versions. What makes one better than the other?

Re: WBA interim titles
That's true... Or WBA Asia... Or others, for that matter. Did you know the IBF also introduced a female 102 lbs. weight class now? The inaugural championship fight will be on December 17, 2016. So, that's all of the big 4 who have it now... Isn't there a possibility to add? I mean, they are WORLD titles of WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO...sandis wrote:At least all regional versions of main 4 titles WBC WBA IBF and WBO must be inserted.

Re: WBA interim titles
The principle that a title fight, however crass it is, be listed as vacant, should apply, if the title is vacant. If an existing champion is not defending the title, it becomes vacant.
