The whining about the whining is the most incessant whining the board has ever seen.
Re: Gennady Golovkin's promoter says talks to fight Daniel Jacobs have been 'positive'
True. Especially yours. It is especially interesting that you stick to your line of Krusher being the better pure boxer when the extent of it was following Ward around the ring taking jabs and body shots for most of the last 10 rounds of the fight.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:The whining about the whining is the most incessant whining the board has ever seen.
No bias there. Of course, like most, you were likely less than focused since your mind was made up after round 2.
Whatever. To each there own. You don't even like boxing. Wth are you doing here?

Ward landed a few slaps and low blows, but it was Kovalev who landed more punches and more effective punches outboxing the hugger.
Re: Gennady Golovkin's promoter says talks to fight Daniel Jacobs have been 'positive'
Ward out jabbed Krusher (by some distance), did better body work (by a country mile), controlled distance for the large majority of the contest, made Krusher miss the vast majority of his shots (while 3/4 of the commentary went goo goo eyes over everything he threw), and won 7 of the last 10 rounds.boxing_rocks wrote:Ward landed a few slaps and low blows, but it was Kovalev who landed more punches and more effective punches outboxing the hugger.

It was Ward's head being hit back like a ball on a string after Kovalev's punches, and it was Ward who was dropped and hurt. Many of Ward's body slaps were low blows. Kovalev outlanded Ward in total punches.Tanzio wrote:Ward out jabbed Krusher (by some distance), did better body work (by a country mile), controlled distance for the large majority of the contest, made Krusher miss the vast majority of his shots (while 3/4 of the commentary went goo goo eyes over everything he threw), and won 7 of the last 10 rounds.boxing_rocks wrote:Ward landed a few slaps and low blows, but it was Kovalev who landed more punches and more effective punches outboxing the hugger.

So you did not see Krusher's head snapped back repeatedly by Ward's jabs?boxing_rocks wrote:It was Ward's head being hit back like a ball on a string after Kovalev's punches, and it was Ward who was dropped and hurt. Ward got to Krusher's body and it had effect. Krusher did precious little body work.
Ward fouled no more than Krusher did. In fact Krusher did the majority of holding to prevent Ward from grinding him into pulp. It was Krusher's only answer for Ward's inside game.
Ward controlled that fight from no later than round 5 on.
You disagree. Fair enough, but there is no way in hell that this was a robbery.

Yes, it was. Judges deliberately gave round 10 to Ward to ensure his "victory".Tanzio wrote: You disagree. Fair enough, but there is no way in hell that this was a robbery.

Proof please. Round 10 was very close Einstone. Try again.boxing_rocks wrote:Yes, it was. Judges deliberately gave round 10 to Ward to ensure his "victory".Tanzio wrote: You disagree. Fair enough, but there is no way in hell that this was a robbery.

Do your research. There are multiple videos on youtube counting punches in round 10, and it is a wide win by Kovalev.
Re: Gennady Golovkin's promoter says talks to fight Daniel Jacobs have been 'positive'
No it wasn't. It was no wider than the majority of rounds that you gave to Krusher clear, and the judges did not have the luxury of looking at it frame by frame.boxing_rocks wrote:Do your research. There are multiple videos on youtube counting punches in round 10, and it is a wide win by Kovalev.

They probably had luxury of getting something really good from RN insteadTanzio wrote:No it wasn't. The WBA’s contract negotiation deadline is Wednesday, only a couple of days away… and in my humble opinion, Gilberto Jesus Mendoza will once again extend the target date, because his organisation seems more than willing to enthusiastically compromise and ignore their own bylaws for the sake of retaining high-profile champions that are able to pay them sizable sanctioning fees. ![[icon_neutral.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_neutral.gif)

Jacobs gets steamrolled in this one if it comes off.

Loeffler said this to RingTV.com about the Golovkin-Jacobs negotiations:
“I’m still in contact with Al and hopefully we can still work out a deal,” Loeffler said. “The WBA has set a deadline now, so we’ll see how that works out. But Al hasn’t called for a purse bid. We’re still in contact.”
LOL, this dude is getting fooled again.

Instead, he should be in contact with HBO trying to win the purse bid or negotiating a cut HBO would agree to take if Golovkin has to defend on Showtime. Haymon is clearly not willing to agree to whatever Loefler is offering.

Golovkin competing on a PBC card would be very beneficial for Haymon's company, especially if Time Warner continues to tighten the purse strings of HBO's boxing division, as this may result in K2 being outbid by DiBella.boxing_rocks wrote:Instead, he should be in contact with HBO trying to win the purse bid or negotiating a cut HBO would agree to take if Golovkin has to defend on Showtime. Then DiBella will pay 75% of the purse to Golovkin. Loefler needs to come up with at least 6 million. Let's say DiBella beats him with 6.4 mil, so Golovkin gets 4.8 mil and could "share" 1.8 mil with HBO so that everybody is happy.Enlightened-One wrote:Golovkin competing on a PBC card would be very beneficial for Haymon's company, especially if Time Warner continues to tighten the purse strings of HBO's boxing division, as this may result in K2 being outbid by DiBella.boxing_rocks wrote:Instead, he should be in contact with HBO trying to win the purse bid or negotiating a cut HBO would agree to take if Golovkin has to defend on Showtime. Besides, to get Jacobs $3 mil he wants, DiBella would have to pay $9 mil to Golovkin which I strongly doubt he would do. Even $2.5 mil + $7.5 mil seems very excessive.

I don't know what is Haymon's plan but Loeffler should do exactly what you said.

Re: Gennady Golovkin's promoter says talks to fight Daniel Jacobs have been 'positive'
As of Tuesday, despite what was being brandied about over the weekend, the bout between WBA middleweight titlist Gennady Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs) and Daniel Jacobs has not been finalized.
"No, the fight is still under negotiations and we're waiting for the good word on it," said Andre Rozier, who trains Jacobs.
In the meantime, Rozier has been working with Jacobs in the gym as they await word on this fight that could possibly take place on March 18th at the Madison Square Garden.
"We've been ready ever since the talks began about the bout taking place. We're ready mentally, we're preparing, doing a light training schedule right now until we find out what's going on. But we'll be physically, mentally and spiritually ready to take these belts from 'Triple G'," said Rozier of the unified champion, who has possession of the WBA, IBF, IBO and WBC straps at 160.
When asked if it would be a letdown if this bout is not consummated the two go their separate ways, Rozier told BS.com:
"Well, it would be but you also have to remember that the nature of boxing is sometimes to be prepared for disappointment. So hopefully this wont be the case but we're ready for whatever comes our way."
from BS.
GGG ain't getting no Jacobs fight. I think Jacobs would just vacate that paper trinket and go for 'bigger and better things' like Mora III, Brian Vera, Quillin II or Andy Lee.

Re: Gennady Golovkin's promoter says talks to fight Daniel Jacobs have been 'positive'
The thing that makes me laugh about the WBA is their notoriously slow decision-making process… I mean, they’ll set a deadline, but instead abiding by their own rules and anticipating the potential outcomes of the aforementioned target date not being made in order to expedite conclusions to situations, they’ll instead remain silent for a number of weeks whilst they decide the next steps.
They procrastinated with their decision-making in regards to who competes for their vacant heavyweight titles and they’ve (so far) behaved appallingly in regards to the Golovkin-Jacobs situation.
I’d be utterly delighted to be proven wrong about this, by reading about purse bids being processed for this fight commencing from tomorrow, but for some strange reason… I reckon we’ll hear nothing and then Tom Loeffler will eventually inform the media about the contract negotiation deadline being extended once again by the WBA due to “special” circumstances.

Then GGG should hire a new promoter.Enlightened-One wrote:The thing that makes me laugh about the WBA is their notoriously slow decision-making process… I mean, they’ll set a deadline, but instead abiding by their own rules and anticipating the potential outcomes of the aforementioned target date not being made in order to expedite conclusions to situations, they’ll instead remain silent for a number of weeks whilst they decide the next steps.
