Joseph Parker's bosses seek new path for WBO title winner as David Haye exits frame
Joseph Parker's handlers have written to the WBO to explain the path forward from the heavyweight title fight now that Englishman David Haye has removed himself from the equation.
When the WBO sanctioned the fight for Auckland they also announced that Haye, a former world champion on the comeback, would be the mandatory challenger to the winner with a fight to be ordered within 120 days of the title fight.
But Haye has now decided to rebuild his career with a local option, taking on British cruiserweight Tony Bellew in a fight scheduled for March 4 in London.
There's no way Haye will then have time to turn around and clash with the winner of the Parker-Ruiz fight.
Duco Events co-owner Dean Lonergan confirmed they had emailed the WBO for a "please explain".
The early indications are that the WBO will go to the next fighter on their rankings which would be Hughie Fury, cousin to former champion Tyson Fury whose fall from grace has opened up the heavyweight division.
Behind Hughie Fury in the WBO rankings lies American Jarrell Miller.
"People might think we are guilty of looking too far ahead but we have to," Lonergan said.

Haye never had any interest in this fight as it's too risky for him. I'd like to see Parker vs Miller.

Daffy shouldn't be involved any more when it comes to belts, he never fought any top contender in ages anyway and there's a reason he's scared for Briggs.

I think that everyone is "scared for Briggs" at this point.asdfjkl wrote:Daffy shouldn't be involved any more when it comes to belts, he never fought any top contender in ages anyway and there's a reason he's scared for Briggs.

Parker's bosses need to just be thinking about December 10th right now. I know Parker is the heavy favorite over Andy Ruiz, but I don't think you should ever look past anybody. The only fight that matters is the next one.

Everyone is giving Ruiz no chance. But he is way better than what people are saying.
You still have to favor Parker but don't be surprised if it is a difficult fight.

ATM the winner of Hughie Miller would be better than Haye.

TBH I think most of them would gladly fight him, perhaps Wilder not but that's it.Tanzio wrote:I think that everyone is "scared for Briggs" at this point.asdfjkl wrote:Daffy shouldn't be involved any more when it comes to belts, he never fought any top contender in ages anyway and there's a reason he's scared for Briggs.

There's a difference between "scared of" and "scared for"asdfjkl wrote:TBH I think most of them would gladly fight him, perhaps Wilder not but that's it.Tanzio wrote:I think that everyone is "scared for Briggs" at this point.asdfjkl wrote:Daffy shouldn't be involved any more when it comes to belts, he never fought any top contender in ages anyway and there's a reason he's scared for Briggs.

Far from awful. He might be completely out of shape.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He can look past Ruiz, he's awful.gilgamesh wrote:Parker's bosses need to just be thinking about December 10th right now. Disagree, we'll see next week. Tor hamer took him to school for 2 Rds. Awful is an exaggeration in the grand scheme, but hes no threat. Quick hands is all I see.tiny_acres wrote:Far from awful.
