Well, both of them have hardly scaled the dizzy heights in terms of opposition. I'd say the only time Calzaghe has faced a live contender was when he fought Omar Sheika.
This is the great thing about this fight. They meet each other on Saturday. No more excuses (unless Joe breaks his hand again in the fight)

What about Brewer, Reid, Woodhall?... Joe may not have beaten all time greats but he's still faced better competition than Lacy.... Joe stopped Sheika years ago while Lacy had to go the distance with him... get a hint?...

Maybe, but I remember thinking how flat and vulnerable Hatton looked because he was not interested in the fights until Tsyzu, so I really expect to see a vintage performance in there on Saturday. Especially since it is becoming more and more clear that Calzaghe is at the point where he is craving respect not cash.

Calzaghe also has a champ's pride and arrogance, he's not going to want to lose his long unbeaten run and title belt to anyone. That has got to be a factor.

Christ I canne wait for this one, this is one of the best fights featuring a British fighter since I don't know when.

Lacy's opposition is as good? his best guys were beat by Joe first.
