a 10-Rd fight that went 91 seconds?kid_thunder wrote:He returns Back to the ring tonight for his 3rd time this year he has a huge fight 6 round fight it is insane he 33 years old two months ago he fought a ten round fight
Any chance for a rematch w/ Charlie Z?
Re: andrew kid thunder hartley
Charlie Z must be dead or in prison. Or in a mental home.
Re: andrew kid thunder hartley
Did they arange one, that Zelenoff pulled out of at the last minuite, then Z wanted to have a street fight, then when Hartley didn't agree Z attacked Hartley anyway?JCS wrote:a 10-Rd fight that went 91 seconds?kid_thunder wrote:He returns Back to the ring tonight for his 3rd time this year he has a huge fight 6 round fight it is insane he 33 years old two months ago he fought a ten round fight

One can't help the results of generations of inbreeding.
Re: andrew kid thunder hartley
Good luck Andrew. I'll always appreciate the video of you fighting Charlie Zelenoff. The whole thing was thoroughly entertaining.

She must have hit pretty hard to score a KO.
Re: andrew kid thunder hartley
Christ, Pappas put a beatdown on Hartley again?
Re: andrew kid thunder hartley
I worked that card. Pappus beat him pillar to post. we saw video of their prior fight and expected the same. not this time. Dude was very aggressive and beat Harley like he was mad at him for some reason I heard. brutal fight. almost felt bad but Harley tried to clown him. That's the business, don't get in the ring unless you can fight. Harley got paid. Crowd loved it..

Meaningless fight that had no reason for happening. Though from what I understand, it was done, so that Hartley could have a fight in Tennessee in the near future. Just a set up to put in line another set up.

Seems Hartley has no trouble getting in the ring, Rufus...why don't you give him some respect?

Oh I give anybody respect for getting in there... after all this is the pain business.... but its a match that had no reason for being, and neither will his subsequent return have no reason for being outside of money.... to actually further his career, skills, etc. has never been a factor one iota throughout his 'career' (if it can be called that). Always been about the quick buck.Tomasino wrote:HomicideHenry wrote:Meaningless fight that had no reason for happening. Believe me, the last few times Hartley has gone in the ring his expenses have been covered, as well as travel. His next return, the way I understand it may very well be against Sugar Shane Moseley's son (believe it or not)..... so those expenses will definitely be covered.... as for prices (in general) they vary during the holidays and off seasons.... I imagine a ticket (bus) for the holiday season, where there is often specials and deals, from Arkansas to Tennessee round trip may very well be $200, but considering the opponent and all, thats a drop in the bucket that Hartley will never have to pay.Do you even know how much a buss ticket is these days?

Henry, the guy is a pro boxer...money is the reason he fights. Just like the rest of the professionals. Get it?

I understand commerce, believe me. However, the better the skills= the better the performance. The better the performance= more likely you will win. The more likely you win= the more people want to see you. The more people want to see you= the more opprotunities you get. The more opprotunities you get= the more money you get. And you get more money if you continue to develop and get better.
Hartley, most of his career, has fought for free or for (at most times) $400. These bouts with the likes of Pappas, Flores, etc. are for $800, $1,000, etc. and then back to peanuts. I don't necessarily call that being a professional. I should know, I did the "quick buck" myself. I have every right to call it what it is (because I did it myself). And thats not what professionals do. That's what jobbers do. Professionals win, and get better, and elevate their status and position---- they don't stay continuously at one level (the bottom) and keep taking a few hundred (or less).

Oh well, I can't say much. Him and I, for better or worse, were about the same skillset.
But, me being a man from that sub-category of fighters, can say it isn't real boxing. Can't even really call it fighting.
It's just jobbing.

He gets in there and tries. He shows up and throws punches until he's out.HomicideHenry wrote:That is a rather generous term for it, isn't it?Tomasino wrote:He's not the most talented or dedicated pro but he gets in there and fights...HomicideHenry wrote:

If you want to learn the technical side of boxing amateurs is the best way. I'd bet on any of the 15 year olds at my local club against you, Andrew Hartley and Zelenoff in the same night.

I wouldn't doubt it. I know plenty of kids who I bet $100 could win any of those "Trailer Park" belts that Goodson used to have up for contention on his pro boxing shows. Me being 31 years of age, etc. I wouldn't put it passed a teenager from out pointing me (badly, embarassingly) if not dropping me to the floor.Tomasino wrote:

Now, that being said, I'd love to spar with the lads.

You'd get everything you wanted out of boxing as an amateur man honestly give it a go, get some sparring in and sharpen upHomicideHenry wrote:I wouldn't doubt it. Re: andrew kid thunder hartley
Say what you will about Mr. Hartley, he's scratched out a niche for himself in the game.
Some may not respect it for it, but I certainly do.
Like it or not, he's an integral part of pro boxing & he provides a service that virtually every promoter & handler in the game subscribes to. Without it, most fighters would only have about half as many fights as they do & many would be missing that confidence building portion of their careers leading to a lot less undefeated records out there for the powers that be to promote on to bigger & better things.
Now, I'm sure that Andrew would much rather have the sort of skills that would enable him to rise from the ranks of a mere opponent to that of the trial horses & journeyman out there that can beat the opponents & go 500. with the other trial horses/journeymen & maybe even play spoiler to some prospects & former contenders on the slide, but unfortunately, he doesn't. And, I'm sure he's made peace with it.
I just hope that he's adept at not taking too much serious punishment.
There's a fine line between showing up for a fight, giving it your best shot & knowing where the "soft spots" are to fall & call it a night & showing up & taking heaps of serious abuse before being legitimately concussed for peanut$.Hopefully, Andrew has learned the art form of the former rather than being one of those sad cases with way too much heart for their own goods who, all too often, winds up getting hurt down the line & are a wreck later in life.
