Our fourth thread in the series, following the success of the Heavyweight, Light Heavyweight & Middleweight threads...

This is a game which will be decided by the wisdom of the crowd.

Each of us has our own opinions on who was better than who, or which achievement was greater than others.
But let's bring it all together and allow simple mathematics to decide it all.

The game is this, each poster names and ranks his Top 10 Welterweights of all time and with each ranking comes a certain number of points.
First place gets 10 points, tenth place gets 1 point - and everything fits in between.

Posters are NOT allowed to edit their posts or change their minds as it will effect the overall accumulated points for each fighter.

I will keep a track of the total scoring each time I'm online. This game has a 30-day deadline, after 30 days - the final points totals will be decided.
Our deadline day will be January 1st.

For me category with the most brilliant and great boxers and probably my favorite category when I look at its entire history.I like 147 there were so many great battles.

My criteria: head to head, best night

Armstrong did beat Ross (last fight for Ross) but Ross was three years past his best fighting days. I was surprised that Armstrong lost back to backs with Zivic; felt I couldn’t push Armstrong higher among the welters.

I think both Ross and McLarnin could pressure and bang, Leonard and Robinson, hard enough to throw both off their game.

Could switch Griffith over Napoles; could switch Zivic over Basilio; otherwise this is how I would bet.

Oh, yes I think Sugar Ray Leonard could beat Sugar Ray Robinson (even again, in a rematch); for what it is worth I would bet on Leonard.

You've got Napoles in there twice Buzzster. I realize you might be a fan of the Cuban, but placing him twice?

I can not see one logical argument not to rate Robinson as the best welterweight of all time.
I can't take any list seriously without Robinson #1.

But there is really no argument against Robinson as #1.
His accomplishments at 147 are better than tge next 5 combined
