You have already excluded Lebedev who will likely beat 4 out of 6 guys you mentioned ?

I think the fact that the top HWs are so huge these days is putting off many CWs from going up, because they know they have little or no chance.

For the first time in CW history, the division is interesting & arguably more interesting than the current moribund HW division.

I just listed the top guys from the new generation of CW div. but yeah Lebedev would probably destroy a few of them.

Far better than the paper HW division.

Cruiserweight is the hottest class in boxing right now, period. The top cruisers are reminiscent of the HW div 1970 and earlier.

Taking into account that Ryabinsky did a high quality free stream, it wouldn't cost much for HBO to televise that fight. They would have done boxing and themselves a big favor, as fights like that attract new fans.

Cruiserweight has been my favourite division for a few years now

Some people keep promising that HW will take off and be red hot in no time, but CW has actually been delivering

The money in CW are much smaller than in HW, so the boxers cannot sleep for a year waiting for purses. On the other hand, the price of the loss is much smaller. So the guys in CW are more active.

Anyhow, HW was and still the face of boxing. Ask any "casual" for five former HW champs and he"ll know Dempsy, Louis, Ali, Foreman and Rocky Balboa-)))).
And even hardcore fans don't remember five CW or LHW....

That's why, for centuries, best LHW and CW tried to go up to HW....

Well, hopefully, HBO has noticed how exciting things are in the division because they're supposed to be televising Usyk's next fight if I'm not mistaken.
Of course, I think they're thinking long term with Usyk & his eventual rise into the heavyweight ranks. Let's just hope that they allow that jump to take place organically & only when he's physically & mentally 100% prepared for it. I'd hate to see them put pressure on his promoter & handlers to rush him into it after only a couple of his CW title defenses.

It is definitely a largely open division where we've seen the top fighters like Huck, Cunningham, Lebedev, Glowacki, Wlodarczyk, and Mchunu get upset / dethroned numerous times and other fighters moving in. There are no clear kings in the division, just about a dozen fairly world class competitors; and some of them, like Huck and Cunningham, have always sought to fight everybody under the sun.

They fight their arses off and deliver more than one thrilling world title encounter per year. Have been, with very few breaks, since the Carl Thompson then Bell/Mormeck days.

Honestly the division doesn't seem that strong to me, lots of bad matchmaking and inactivity:

- Usyk is fighting Mchunu who got KO'd in his last significant fight, and hasn't had a decent win in years.

- Glowacki hasn't fought since losing to Usyk and has nothing scheduled.

- Bellew is moving up to HW to fight Haye.

- Briedis just fought a bum and has nothing scheduled.

- Huck just fought Kucher who is more or less a no-hoper.

- Cunningham hasn't fought in 8 months and has nothing scheduled.

Now that Gassiev/Lebedev has happened, there's really not a single interesting CW fight on the schedule.

Yeah, and the sun came up today but it is down now and there are no guarantees that we will ever see it again.

Sorry, couldn't resist. We may have to wait 6 months or so, but CW will deliver.
