They will lose more money in pissed up last minute buys than they gain in extra £30 ticket sales. Loads of £30 tickets were still available for the Froch fight as part of coach deals so technically there wasn't 80,000 there.nitro5912 wrote:It will be whatever the capacity the license allows.
Last time it was the moving of people after the fight which forced it down. So Eddie will have to bring it all forward to get close to the 90000 capacity.
Football matches are finished by 10pm latest. The froch fight was just starting then.
Anthony Joshua already pencilled in to fight Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley before Eric Molina defence

Tbf I had level 1 seats and it was an,OK view. But not great.mickey1975 wrote:They will lose more money in pissed up last minute buys than they gain in extra £30 ticket sales. I've watched football from the top tier at Wembley and its horrendous so boxing must be more so.
If this is at Wembley I doubt I'd be able to get many takers on tickets, but you'll still see 75-80k there

On his own Wlad couldn't but Joshua is comfortably selling out the biggest arenas going in fights that are pretty meaningless. His profile is bigger than Froch was, it's the marquee division. It'll do miles more than 40k.
I can accept completely the hype is OTT about Joshua's ability. But there's no doubt he can sell.
Next week isn't sold out, nor was his last fight at the O2. About 25% end up on Stubhub and not all of them get sold, it's all bollox.
Re: Anthony Joshua already pencilled in to fight Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley before Eric Molina defence
AJ Brezeale didn't sell out
Re: Anthony Joshua already pencilled in to fight Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley before Eric Molina defence
Wlad is known to the causals as the guy who had 2 boring fights with Haye and Fury, it won't even come close to 80k. 50 max.

But AJ is The Humble Destroyer, Hate and Fury fought passively, casuals will want to watch AJ wipe the floor with Klit in two rounds, I think they will go for itemallini wrote:Wlad is known to the causals as the guy who had 2 boring fights with Haye and Fury, it won't even come close to 80k. 50 max.
Re: Anthony Joshua already pencilled in to fight Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley before Eric Molina defence
It's not really about Wlad though. Joshua is known to the casuals as the guy who stops everyone and this is his biggest fight by miles. It won't be as big as him vs Haye, (who is legitimately huge in his own right), or Fury, (who sells like shit but would sell on a promotion which would basically be advertised as 'cough up to see Tyson Fury get battered'), but it'll still be very big.emallini wrote:Wlad is known to the causals as the guy who had 2 boring fights with Haye and Fury, it won't even come close to 80k. 50 max.
In terms of how the Molina fight is selling, to repeat, all tier 2 are sold out and all tier 1 bar one section are either sold out or available as single ticket. People may say 'well, they're on Stubhub and the like' but ultimately people don't buy them to stick on Stubhub to go unsold and then chucked.
Re: Anthony Joshua already pencilled in to fight Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley before Eric Molina defence
Because both Fury and Haye ran. AJ not going to run, thats for sure.emallini wrote:Wlad is known to the causals as the guy who had 2 boring fights with Haye and Fury

Ive been doing very detailed marketing in the last fortnight on a boxing product and from our findings Joshuas's popularity is only a fraction of Ricky Hattons and approximately only half of Carl Froch's. He is very popular though. Just not in their league.
It seems it me that a lot of people like Anthony Joshua events, but he doesn't actually have that many fans. If that makes sense.
So I don't think he could suffer the defeats Froch or in particular Hattin did and still be a massive draw.
Regarding this fight, it's definitely not a true sell out as fighters like Dillian Whyte are advertising even tonight, less than a week away and as chief support, that he has tickets to sell and to get in contact ...

Any more detail on this? I mean, Froch was very popular at the end of his career, but the fights against Bute and Mack, (after which he was only three fights away from his career being over) were only big enough for the 9/10k Nottingham Arena and both only broadcast on standard Sky Sports.Maxsplit wrote:Ive been doing very detailed marketing in the last fortnight on a boxing product and from our findings Joshuas's popularity is only a fraction of Ricky Hattons and approximately only half of Carl Froch's. As I said, Joshua is a draw ... But doesn't have anywhere the number of their fans.dirk2686 wrote:Any more detail on this? I guess both Froch and Hatton built fan bases the traditional way, whereas Joshua jumped straight from journeymen to PPV. His last non PPV fight was Gary Cornish.
Kind of like winning X Factor straight from being a bedroom performer rather than having slowly built a fanbase via 100s of the toilet gigs, support tours etc.
There doesn't appear to be any hardcore Joshua fans from our research. So I imagine, if for example, he was to fight Wilder in the USA for a unification there would be very few travelling to support in contrast to Ricky Hattin n taking 30,000 fans to Vegas.
Which is not what we were expecting.
Re: Anthony Joshua already pencilled in to fight Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley before Eric Molina defence
What is your research? No doubt that he'd not get as many followers to Vegas as Hatton, but Froch basically got a handful to see him fight Ward.Maxsplit wrote:As I said, Joshua is a draw ... I don't really get how you can Joshua is half as popular as Froch. Under what sort of metric?
Re: Anthony Joshua already pencilled in to fight Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley before Eric Molina defence
Targeted, sponsored Facebook, Instagram advertising through a media buying company targetting exactly the same demographics with the same budget for various individual boxers.dirk2686 wrote:What is your research? Hatton is off the scale. And Froch twice as popular and then some as Joshua in terms of cost per interaction, comments, shares, clicks, likes etc.
Considering Joshua is fighting in a PPV next weekend and Froch hasn't fought for 2 & 1/2 years it wasn't what we were expecting.

Even casuals are getting sick of AJ fighting pies
Re: Anthony Joshua already pencilled in to fight Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley before Eric Molina defence
Steve Bunce has alluded to a few issues in Joshua's mindset in his column today.
Re: Anthony Joshua already pencilled in to fight Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley before Eric Molina defence
Wlad signs for the fight and cancels through injury a week or 2 before the fight and they bring in a Molinaesque opponent to fight for the vacant titles is more likely

Joshua seems to be part of this modern phenomenon of being an event that people want to be part of but they don't actually care about him or his career.Maxsplit wrote:As I said, Joshua is a draw ...
