I am a researcher working with network analyses (in biology, actually) but a big boxing fan, and was wondering where I could obtain a table or compiled data set with boxing matches fromm the 1960s to 2010. I really would like to fiddle with boxing data.
The idea would be to plot networks of all matches and who won. Try to get a sense of who were the most prominent fighters of each time period across different weight classes. Maybe find some of the unsung heroes based on solid data.
I am not interested in bet prediction or anything in that sense. I am more interested in knowing how matches were distributed from the early days to later on, which fighters occupied a more central position in matchmaking networks, etc... academic type questions for personal curiosity.
Baseball and football data are pretty easy to find, but I don't really care for those. I can't find anything already compiled for boxing. I could make it from scratch, but I am not inclined to do so if it exists somewhere already, especially because it would take a very long time.
I will be happy to post the results here for general curiosity. Any feedback is quite welcome.
