The PPV buy figures you guys love talking about are limited to the US, and often guess work, if not total fiction.

Not really sure why the OP needs to use modern-climate "PPV buys" to measure the draw size of Ali & Tyson. Ali is up there with Michael Jackson and Nelson Mandela as perhaps the most famous man ever to walk the earth. With the exception of Ali, Tyson is probably the most famous ever sportsman (I don't want to comment much on Dempsey as it's not my bag, but i have trouble believing he achieved close to the same global fame as Tyson given he was boxing during WW1).

Well considering ppv numbers are historicaly America only numbers.
And a quick Google search only 22 million households have ppv capabilities.
It appears tge numbers listed are unrealistic

But Tyson rolls over Ali... he'd go right after Ali, like he went right after Michael Spinks and Tony Tubbs -- he'd go for the quick finish.. Spinks was 31-0.. Tony Tubbs was 24-1 losing only to Tim Witherspoon.. The way Norton fractured Ali's jaw with his readable hooks, Tyson had a shorter, harder, quicker, and slicker left hook... Some folks say Ali would fight Tyson like Buster Douglas did.. That's not realistic, since Buster was bigger, taller, and stronger than Ali.. Buster also had an inside game and a body attack, so he was much more of a complete fighter at his best -- which he was the night he fought Tyson.
Hmm.. did I..just read that?
Don't try and make sense out of his posts. You will just go crazy.
Just take them as failed comedy.

I get the failed part, I don't get the comedy part.

It has to be meant for comedy purposes. There is no way you can read that crap out loud without laughing.
Try it

I dont laugh when I read that stuff but I don't pull my hair out either. Most of us like getting responses, but some people want responses so badly that they'll write total crap to get a response. He knows better.
Yeah right, Ali and Tyson wouldn't be top 5 today. He knows its crap as well as we do.

Only in a sense that his offense was overwhelming. He certainly didn't get hit often, but I never saw the great defense and head movement people talked about. His ring iq was too low for ad-lib defense.

interesting. i actually think that in the
damato years he was quite ring smart.
of course he was a strong puncher and
his offence was his main defence, but
he didn't go in as straight as he did in
his overconfident times.

i do see though that he fought his best
opponents not within this early times.

Mike was programmed, well. In his memorized sequences he moved his head well while he fired. Interrupting that would stop it. Most of the time when exchanging he would square up.

Some people make foolish statements because they don't know what they're talking about. Others are just playing games. If someone says Douglas or Chamberlain (Wilt or Neville :)) were better HWs than Ali, but then they know details about Jimmy Young or Duane Bobick's career, they probably fall into the later category.
