Ward-Kovalev: $3.3M Live Gate from 10,066 Sold

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

The fight night crowd was 13,310, which is less than what Canelo-Khan did..

10,066 tickets sold to produce a live gate of $3,341,980

1,636 confirmed complimentary tickets issued..

Remaining 2,500 tickets unsold..

Venue was configured told hold 14,227 patrons..

Add $3.3m to the roughly $10.7m it did on PPV...

= $14m

It seems the figures that you’ve quoted are pretty much in line with my ballpark numbers I stated two weeks ago. Not huge sums of money, but should be enough to pay for Ward’s $5m purse (based on comparing these stats to the trivial loss Bob Arum incurred for the Crawford-Postol bout).
Enlightened-One wrote:The Kovalev-Ward bout generated at least $13.9m ($10.4m PPV buys & $3.5m gate receipts), where the total combined guaranteed main event purses was $7m.
By the way, $3.3m + $10.7m = $14m

Promoters made a mistake by putting this matchup on the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Fights don't sell as well as they could otherwise, when held at that time.

Many people are already on the road traveling. Out of town. Not available to buy the PPV.

It should have been scheduled for Dec. 10.

Still it did well, considering.
