Re: 4 years today since JMM iced Manny PAC
I watched it in Aukland NZ, it was on early evening, I was in a packed out pub which had table service, I was absolutely loving it, there were probably 50 philipenos in there screaming for their man. When what happened, happend they were on their hands and knees crying screaming and trying to dig holes in the floor. I drank up and got off.

I worked the day before and was far too tired to stay up or get up so on the Sunday morning I downloaded it from WBVA and avoided the news. I noticed it was an unusually small file for a fight that went twelve rounds so I expected someone got stopped, and I expected it to be JMM as he seemed to be more on the slide even though I thought he should have won the third quite handily.
I was stunned when he knocked him out, it was absolutely brutal. One of the best knockouts in a long time and in a fight you expected to go twelve again, I really wanted JMM to win but I didn't thin he'd do it like that.

The previous three meetings between the pair were incredibly close fights that could have gone either way. Nevertheless, the history books will forever be engrained with two decision victories for Pacquiao and one 12-round draw after all three contests had gone to the judges’ scorecards. The three judges at ringside on December 8 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena would not be needed.

That was a fare assumption. Even watching the fight it seemed like that at times, Manny seems as quick but stronger than he'd ever been and JMM was having a terrible sixth round. It came from nowhere and was a genuinely shocking thing to happen. I loved it.Counter-puncher wrote:i didn't watch it, had the fear for Marquez that this was his One Fight Too Many and I coudn't bare to watch it....TheDarkDestroyer wrote:I worked the day before and was far too tired to stay up or get up so on the Sunday morning I downloaded it from WBVA and avoided the news. Its 36 since john lennon got shot aswell.
Re: 4 years today since JMM iced Manny PAC
If ever anyone was obviously juiced up it was JMM in this fight
Not slagging the man off as I'm a fan of his (& Manny), but the change in him over a very short period of time was laughable.

Re: 4 years today since JMM iced Manny PAC
the difference between JMM at welter vs Floyd, then vs Manny in the third fight, was the biggest change i thought i noticed
Re: 4 years today since JMM iced Manny PAC
Great fight and victory. Marquez is not a top welter, he's not strong or fast enough (see the Bradley fight), he just has the style to time Manny and I felt in this fight he knew he couldn't get a points win so went do or die - and channeled the extra weight into the knockout punch.
Always felt certain Manny was a juicer, flyweight up to light middleweight, and refusing to random drugs testing 7 years before the Mayweather fight finally happened.

Remember watching live on the laptop. I genuinely though pacquiao was dead. I remember the commentator was saying it doesn't look like he's gonna get up. Duh! He's fcukin out cold!

I stayed up to watch it and no word of a lie,my TiVo box rebooted itself in the round it finished and when it come back on Pacquiao was lying unconscious
Re: 4 years today since JMM iced Manny PAC
Marquez- one of my all time favourites. I was never a huge Manny fan. I always preferred the more thoughtful style of Marquez. That said- Pacquiao has improved his "boxing" immeasurably since his early days.

Best fight i've ever seen.
Re: 4 years today since JMM iced Manny PAC
Welterweight does off the mainstream money so you can imagine lower weight fighters juicing up. And perhaps Pacquiao's fear of needles and losing blood might give other fighters motivation to not only cheat but chest against Pacquiao.
Yet, despite the muscles of!arquez, he didn't appear particularly athletic. Nor has he ever as a welterweight, hence, I feel his mixed results at this weight class. He was tough, brave and composed as ever. It looked to me he muscled up and took greater chances than normal, the strategy bring to time the reckless Pacquiao with bigger punches rather than scoring points.

Stayed up to watch this fight and was cursing myself before they started. Sitting half asleep thinking 'I'm going to regret this' then as soon as it started I was buzzing. I woke my Mrs up shouting when JMM landed that dig!
As a few posters have already said, it doesn't seem that long ago at all! Time flies when you're a boxing fan because there is sometimes months between the big fights!
