A trim 255 at about 6'0" (his official height listing is generous)

Comparatively (by Ruiz standards) trimcrusader wrote:A trim 255 at about 6'0" (his official height listing is generous)

Re: Parker & Ruiz weighin - Ruiz tim but heavier than Parker
I agree - Parker is clearly at least three inches taller than him and it's possible Parker is 6'3" not 6'4". Ruiz is actually slightly heavier than his previous fight, so any difference training with Abel Sanchez makes will have to be to do with skills and conditioning - he's still overweight, borderline obese.crusader wrote:A trim 255 at about 6'0" (his official height listing is generous)

Meanwhile, Joseph Parker has signed up with VADA and will be tested for the Ruiz bout.

Glad to see that. I wish more fighters would volunteer for testingLike a Boss wrote:Meanwhile, Joseph Parker has signed up with VADA and will be tested for the Ruiz bout.

Agree. In many sports it is mandatory to be tested.tiny_acres wrote:Glad to see that. I wish more fighters would volunteer for testingLike a Boss wrote:Meanwhile, Joseph Parker has signed up with VADA and will be tested for the Ruiz bout.

Until there is one governing body the testing will be a joke.

255?
I thought Ruiz had gotten himself in shape for this fight.
Yes, yes, round is a shape

I don't like Parker coming in this heavy - if it goes rounds his stamina may be affected. I think Parker's best fighting weight is probably around 230lb-235lb.

Parker does look a bit soft and on the heavy side. But I wonder if they have done that because of the size and shape of his opponent? Kevin Barry is no fool.jezzamundo wrote:I don't like Parker coming in this heavy - if it goes rounds his stamina may be affected. I think Parker's best fighting weight is probably around 230lb-235lb.

It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to me.Like a Boss wrote:Parker does look a bit soft and on the heavy side. But I wonder if they have done that because of the size and shape of his opponent? Re: Parker & Ruiz weighin - Ruiz tim but heavier than Parker
He wouldn't be the first heavyweight to go in heavier than usual because of a perceived size (girth) or strength advantage their opponent might have over them. But I would have thought Parker's plan would involve keeping Ruiz at distance with his longer reach and superior stamina, and then either taking a gassed Ruiz out or cruising to a points win.jezzamundo wrote:It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to me.Like a Boss wrote:Parker does look a bit soft and on the heavy side. Parker has always looked heavy. Even though he has a more aesthetically ideal physique that Ruiz, he's always been a bit soft around the midriff.jezzamundo wrote:It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to me.Like a Boss wrote:Parker does look a bit soft and on the heavy side. Regardless, boxing isn't a bodybuilding contest and rippling muscles is an unreliable barometer to gauging stamina levels, handspeed and punching power, especially in the context of skill levels.

There was a pretty impressive collection of fatties weighing in on that card.

111.9 kg is 246.2 pounds, and the heaviest Parker has ever weighed in at.Enlightened-One wrote:Parker has always looked heavy. If Ruiz was trim he'd be a light heavyweight. Welcome to areola part 2, though areola deserves better than that.
Re: Parker & Ruiz weighin - Ruiz tim but heavier than Parker
I kinda doubt Ruiz ever has wins that match Arreola's best wins either, but he might.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:If Ruiz was trim he'd be a light heavyweight. Welcome to areola part 2, though areola deserves better than that.

Andy's body is so deceiving. He looks like an obese nerd but dude has some skills and speed.

True, thought he is 12lb heavier than he was for his fight against Carlos Takam which was just 7 months ago. Not a good sign IMO.Enlightened-One wrote:Parker has always looked heavy.
