I agree - Parker is clearly at least three inches taller than him and it's possible Parker is 6'3" not 6'4". Ruiz is actually slightly heavier than his previous fight, so any difference training with Abel Sanchez makes will have to be to do with skills and conditioning - he's still overweight, borderline obese.
I have to retract my previous statement on Ruiz's height - some of the photos in public indicated a big height difference, but it looks as though that was down to shoes and/or posture. At the weigh in, there looked to be no more than 2 inches between them. Also Ruiz looked to be the same height as Abel Sanchez, if that helps. I tend to think both guys are listed an inch taller than they really are, so 6'1" Ruiz and 6'3" Parker.

I’ve just watched a video where Joseph Parker’s minor weight-gain was explained to be a direct result of a new strength and conditioning regime, where the main goal was improving his punching power, which is an intriguing tactic to employ against an opponent that has never been stopped either as an amateur or pro.

Meanwhile, whilst Andy Ruiz Jr’s official weight is actually a couple of pounds heavier than what he’s weighed for recent fights, he looks a lot trimmer, which is probably due to Abel Sanchez’s military-style training regimen.

So in theory, Ruiz Jr. should be slightly faster, busier and retain his stylistic form much better during the later rounds than how we’ve seen him perform during previous bouts… and nor do I expect him to gas out after three rounds, like he did in the Liakhovich fight. However, I would have preferred him to be a little bit lighter, perhaps below the 245lb mark.

Therefore, it could turn out to be a battle of punching power thrown from distance versus the work-rate of an inside fighter.

I’m really looking forward to this fight and I can’t help thinking that the Mexican-American huge underdog is going to give the New Zealander a severe test. I might be tempted to place a bet on Ruiz Jr. since the betting odds seems unrealistic to me.

He's sucking it in because of that brunette. Not the blonde though.

Where will Parker go from this? Well the people around him are worthless so he'll probably get used up against some other contenders or champions. This is a shame really since Joseph is a very charismatic fellow. I'd offer to train the fellow but seeing as I have 0% credibility that offer would never be accepted.
That's a bit of a random post.

What makes you so certain Parker is going to get so easily beaten by Ruiz?

When doing strength training to gain muscle you should eat around +500 calories a week.

I like Ruiz chances in this fight and if Parker cannot hurt Ruiz to make him think twice about rushing in then Ruiz will most likely win unless Parker has developed some new footwork skills since he fought Soloman where I saw alot of weaknesses against shorter pressure fighters.

Maybe Parkers best weapon is his upper cut and I expect him to use that often. I think Parkers jab will work well if it goes into later rounds but in the early rounds Ruiz is good at countering jab with overhand swinging rights.

50/50 fight

Just watched a YouTube video where Andy Ruiz jr. introduces Joseph Parker to his parents and they're taking photos and being incredibly friendly... Abel Sanchez was sharing a laugh and a joke with Parker's trainer... It's a side of boxing you don't usually get an opportunity to see so near the fight date and it's a shame one of these guys has to lose.

I've never watched a full Ruiz fight.. Does he have a chin? He reminds me of Chris Arreola. From the little I have seen he doesn't have great power, he has that mauling accumulation strength. He seems patient, smart though. But Parker is just bigger, more power. If Ruiz has a chin and has a bit of defense he'll cause significant problems for Parker after 6 rounds if he hasn't taken body blows. Intriguing one...or it will be over in 3.

I have. Ruiz has a good chin, so I don't see Parker bombing him out early.

Ruiz is shorter and heavier than Arreola (based on his average shape), thought I think he's more naturally talented as a boxer. I'd say Ruiz has decent power, thought not as good as Parker.

Parker isn't that much bigger - just two inches taller with two inches longer reach. Ruiz's defense is quite leaky, but so is Parker's. Both guys have very fast hands for heavyweights. I agree, very intriguing fight.

Good to know he's got a chin. Wonder how much parkers fast hands will factor if he's under pressure and on the back foot. We shall wait and see. Thanks for the info.

Good fight. Both came to fight. Good body work by both men. Parker had the better jab. Still think AJ cleans both of them out.

Disappointing from Parker

If Ruiz had even the slightest second gear I think he would've won that

Ruiz won early rounds but slowed down in the second half of the fight.
