21 yr old trainer, bbbc need to be accountable here too.

How is Nick Blackwell? I hope he's ok and fully recovers. British boxing is a bit of a mess right now on many levels!

That boxer looks an interesting character- was charged with sexual assault in 2014 but the jury couldnt come to a decision.

I've just read that Blackwell is 'https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/ ... ion-boxing' no longer sedated so it sounds as if he is going to recover.

Interesting quote from FW at the end of the article '“Some of these guys want to box because they’re fighters. They just think, ’Oh it doesn’t matter I can get over that’. A lot of money was raised to help because he wasn’t going to box anymore and he obviously received his purse from his last fight, so this is not about money, this is about someone wanting to fight. This is madness, total madness."

Anyone else initially read one of the guys' names as Liam Williams and have a mini heart attack?

Who cares who his sparring partner was?

Blackwell is primarily to blame. Blackwell is a pillock.

What are the rules for sparring exactly. Dont spar a guy who was in a coma from brain injury? How is this regulated?

As much as this post strikes me as one of your purposely inflammatory remarks, I completely agree.

Blackwell was beyond stupid to attempt any form of sparing after what happened.

He had massive amounts of sympathy from the boxing world when he suffered the initial injury, but none for being so stupid as to go back in any ring.

The sparring partner should know better and was in the wrong but this was Blackwells doing I'm afraid.

While I wouldn't call Blackwell any names I do agree with 'orse that he's primarily to blame.

The sparring partner sounds like, at best, he speaks broken English. The trainer is 21 years old. Not too difficult to imagine that a big name (in the West Country) could say to them "I'm fine, mate" and they believe hhim.

I'm not actually "blaming" Blackwell either. He's been boxing most of his life. Sparring to him is like having a cup of tea to most of us. This is a shite situation brought about by ignorance & bravado.

All parties should learn a lesson from this. No need for over the top punishment.

I agree with your measured response mate. Pretty much sums it up. The Iranian is probably clueless as to British culture (like not tw*tting a haematoma victim) and probably boxing is his clearest ticket to making a buck.

I like the way the Board has come out fighting. Not that they had a choice. I was also very impressed with Block....or is it Robert someone? Anyway....the bloke who was announcing actions after the that ugly fiasco between those two heavyweight hoodlum berks

It's nothing to do with 'British culture' or him being Iranian.
