Knee injury.

Post by King Tubby »

Torn my meniscus, apparently, and have to have some kind of minor op, scraping it, or something. I've rested it for a few months and it's ok, but I can feel it's only a strenuous workout away from going again. Silly question, but if I had that workout before the op, would it make any difference? Done it squatting, by the way.

Could turn it from a minor op into a major surgery, if you can feel that it's going to go then there's the potential for further damage that will mean more waiting while the swelling comes down and it starts to heal naturally, then a longer recovery afterwards. In short it's better long term to wait, have the operation then start back afterwards and build up the strength in the knee gradually.

Cheers mate. I was thinking about you the other day. What's with your players bashing each other up?

Doyle didn't pass to Beckford, Beckford kicked off and said something, they squared up, bit of pushing and shoving, ref overreacted and sent both off. Wasn't there but from the sounds of it Beckford was moaning all game and caused it, Doyle stood his ground and they both saw red. Haven't heard anything about any kickoffs in training and they all seem to get on well, never had any issues with team spirit in the last few years which made it more surprising.

Doyle's taken more stick because he's never really hit form for us, whereas Beckford scored a hat trick at Wembley so he gets let off. Beckford will be out the door in the summer anyway though, been injured for most of the last 18 months and has never stayed fit long enough to get a run of games since we got promoted and has scored about 3 times since then. Think in total he's managed about 700 minutes of football in a season and a half.

All a bit strange really but it was dealt with well and I'd expect to see both back once their bans are up, we don't have many other options at the moment and we can't afford to sign anyone.

Thanks for the knee advice, I was wondering if they might just say continue to rest it if they see it's not too bad, whereas if it was messed right up, they'd do a proper job on it. Scan showed a tear, so hopefully a minor op might sort it , as you say.

I assume you've already taken the advice of not doing any exercise, the problem with exercising on a maniscus tear is that it creates instability in the knee which could lead to tearing ligaments. From memory miniscus isn't a real long rehab etc. I've torn my ACL twice and both times I ontinured exercising because I knew even though there was a chance of tearing someotbg else my knee already requiring a full reconstruction and a year of time off and rehab I had nothing to lose. Admittedly I checked a kick while sparring and never did that again though

I've done the same it seems I'm waiting on a MRI to confirm it , been off work for 5 weeks with it . Strange there was no obvious time it happened I played golf and it was sore and stiff the next day then it just kept getting worse I think through work tiling floors .Hope it's not to much longer
I've had the scan, got an appointment next month. Don't know if there going to operate there and then or not. Been cycling down the gym and it's holding up alright. Do you know if they ever get fully repaired?
