I don't think Wlad will be strong enough to grab and wrestle Joshua though. He's mostly had physical advantages in the past when he's grabbed and wrestled his way to victory, I don't think he has that here.
You might both be right, I just don't think I'd understate how effective and strong Wlad was doing what he did, at his very best and I also think it's too early to state that Joshua is good enough to have the tools to beat himlefty wrote:
I dunno. Wlad has always looked at his best against guys that had a significant reach disadvantaged to him- bar Wach who is slow as poo. He didn't look all that comfortable against Pulev before the latter decided he was gonna stand completely flat footed in front of Klitschko. He definietly had trouble with Pulev's jab.
Wlad was one strong dude and pulled his wrestling trick with some big lumps, I haven't seen Joshua up close with anyone to see how well he deals with that kind of contest (although he does look a powerful big fornicator)
As for reach advantage, again you might be right, but he didn't always tower over his opponents and Joshua isn't particularly long limbed, Jennings for instance as listed as having a longer reach. I really don't see Joshua getting in range against prime Wlad, who would operate a very much safety first approach against Joshua

Last night's Parker would be clowned by an in form Fury.
Re: Round-By-Round - Anthony Joshua vs. Eric Molina - December 10th 2016
And when can the world expect "an in form Fury?" I will take Parker.
Re: Round-By-Round - Anthony Joshua vs. Eric Molina - December 10th 2016
He looked fine in his last three. If he decides to come back and have big fights I imagine that he'll get in much better shape, and if he sticks to the partying and doesn't return there obviously wont be a Parker fight.

I see that news reports this morning are questioning Whyte & Chisora's stanima. Did they not see the fight then?
I don't think AJ did himself any favours either by pouring scorn on the efforts of his countrymen when we've not even seen if AJ could do 12 rounds with an opponent that just keeps coming at him. He rode his popularity and badly misjudged the mood of the crowd with those comments.

Professional performance from Joshua, took his time, had a look at Molina then went to work in the 3rd and got the KO, I never thought Molina would get up after the 1st knockdown

I wanted AJ to acknowledge what a great fight had gone before, and maybe make a humble apology for his being in an anticlimatic, mismatched bout in the post fight interview, but he merely said 'There's two types of thing they can do, you get a Dillon and Dereck type of fight or you get someone who gets in the ring like Eric Molina, it's hard when you get in the ring with someone whose not giving you many options, someone whose boxing with you can give you opportunities...'
Maybe it doesn't qualify as a pouring scorn, exactly, but it's not very humble in the face of his complete overshadowing by the previous bout either.
Besides his face might have been just a tiny bit scornful when he said it, maybe a micro-expression crossed there?
No, I give up, whyte flag. I obviously misheard what he said. My fault

Personally for me perhaps the most interesting aspect of this PPV was that, Slimy Eddie's hand forced to prop up a terrible main event, an arena full of "night out" types (of which I openly admit to being one of, only I can never get a fornicating ticket anymore) and the casual PPV crowd were exposed to some brilliant, competitive, evenly matched all action fights. After seeing those fights, things of beauty, the AJ-Molina farce rang so incredibly hollow... Perhaps what can come out of this is that this new breed of fans will now start to develop an appetite for proper fights, be less tolerant of the Smith brother vs binmen style undercards...
I can dream.
I can dream.

I'm a little surprised that a guy that took Wilder 9 rounds, which included catching him a handful of times, was so ineffective against Joshua.
Was the performance worse than his performance against Wilder? Is Joshua just too good?
The way I see it, Joshua has a tight stance, and gives limited openings to his opponent. If Joshua is patient, he'll pick his man off at will. And once he's caught his man a handful of times, they're going down and staying down.

Molina looked to me like a man looking for the first opportunity to lie down. No ambition whatsoever. Pointless fight.

Wilder leaves himself wide open at times so that's probably why Molina had a bit more success. I think he was almost beaten before he got into the ring and that left hook that caught him at the end of the first would have knocked any remaining ambition out of him. He was quoted in Buncey's article as saying he's never felt power like it - if that's accurate then I reckon he just shat himself and thought "fornicate this".Rob3_142 wrote:I'm a little surprised that a guy that took Wilder 9 rounds, which included catching him a handful of times, was so ineffective against Joshua.

One surprising thing, haven't seen one post fight interview with Molina. He was very quickly forgotten after Klitchko climbed in the ring.the_doctor wrote:Wilder leaves himself wide open at times so that's probably why Molina had a bit more success.
