Even though I didn't like Oscar De La Hoya, I got to admit that he was better than Felix "Tito" Trinidad. He proved it in the night that they fought, even though he didn't get the decision. Even if the judges would have voted for Oscar that night, he didn't show that he was really a great boxer. That he was all that. He didn't close the show like he should. Tito in that night got exposed, BIG TIME!
Plus, Oscar had a better career and fought more elite boxers. He had more longevity than Tito. Once Tito lost for the first time, he retired like a little bitch. Everytime he lost, he did retired. Not Oscar, he kept going even in defeat.

Also, in my view, none of the two are considered top 100 p4p great boxers. I just don't see it.

Oscar is for me he had better carrer.
Both of them were excellent and good career had.

Oscar excelled over more weights, but at the weights Trinidad fought at I think he was better than Oscar. I don't see Tito losing or struggling with the guys Oscar did. So I both rate higher and like better, Felix Trinidad.

Easy for me, DLH.....
I honestly think be beat Tito, even if you don't like how he paced the fight.
He fought Shane to general draw over 2 fights, and once again did not get credit for either of these occurrences except in the court of public opinion.
I think he did more for the sport as well. Don King sort of chaperoned Tito, whereas, the people sort of chaperoned Oscar.

De La Hoya ranks higher & I find it hard to say which one I like more, as they were both good value.
Re: Who Do You Rate Higher : And Like Better ?
If you eliminate Felix's tendency to loose concentration around the 2nd rd of fights, then I don't think De La Hoya has particularly superior boxing skills. Add to that Tito's power advantage in both hands, and his get down to business, keep throwing and something good will happen approach, as opposed to Oscar's frequent bouts of tactical confusion.

I think its fair to say DLH sometimes looked like he would show those superior skills, he looked vaguely like he might turn out a real boxer but never did. Really, the Vargas fight was the only one I can recall him fighting without the tactical confusion you mention.Seamus wrote:If you eliminate Felix's tendency to loose concentration around the 2nd rd of fights, then I don't think De La Hoya has particularly superior boxing skills. Oscar just had a poor thing iq. Really his only glaring flaw.
