I didn't but you pay for the card, Davie. It wasn't a bad bill at all.
But I don't want to stop you feeling smug or anything
I just can't come to terms with paying ppv for a show where the main event is a keep busy fight,
they could have Ward vs Gatti, Barrera vs Morales, Hagler vs Hearns and the effing rumble in the jungle on the undercard
Starting a thread after a great night of boxing makes you look more of a mug than them, to be honest.
And I ain't saying that to get a cheap dig. It's not a huge amount of money. You calling them "fecking mugs" for paying a small amount of money for a decent evenings entertainment doesn't make you look like a superstar.
It was said with tongue fairly solidly in cheek mate.
Although I do still hate Eddie Hearn for putting these fights PPV
Re: Did you pay £17 for that
I suppose it all comes down to your view on what's a great night of boxing and what is cheap. Frank Buglioni Vs. Hosea Burton and Dereck Chisora Vs. Dillian Whyte where good fights. The kind of fights I'd expect on SKY Sports. The rest of the card was predictable. £16.95 for some, depending on their circumstances, is the difference between heating their homes for the next 7 days or going cold. Not everyone is loaded. Some people on the breadline would have been guliable enough to fork out the money thinking they where going to be treated to a 6 hours extravaganza of boxing, unrivaled to the shows they may receive through their SKY Sports subscription, only to be let down.Taansend wrote:

Almost as good as live and in HD. You need to find and subscribe to the handful of Youtubers who capture the fights and put them up minutes after the final bell. They're free, in great picture quality and reliable. I knew the card was shite so wouldn't buy the PPV. This way I can watch the card, a bit behind live broadcast, and have a raging hard on about saving £16.95. A right smug tit right now![]()

I'll happily pay the Klitschko ppv.

Most of us can afford it and it means nothing; I give more to a busker in Town. Seems you can't OP; I feel sorry for you.

Re: Did you pay £17 for that
Agree with you there even though it's going to be a 41 year old man, who has boxed once in 2 years, cashing out. Allegedly both him and his wife, who's Postnatal Depression was blamed for him losing against Fury, are trying for baby number 2. Great time to walk away, with a boosted bank balance, and look after the really important things in life.davie wrote:I'll happily pay the Klitschko ppv.
Re: Did you pay £17 for that
Yeah I bought it had all my mates round for a piss up so was worth it. Chisora v Whyte was a brilliant fight.
Re: Did you pay £17 for that
Instead of throwing £16.95 to a busker polluting the air with their dulcet tones, why not help another passionate boxing brother out and pay for their PPV? Sounds like you've got money to burn, and you feel sorry for the original poster, so why not help him out instead of encouraging unwelcome noise pollution? You've got to have more in common with a fellow Boxrec'r than a piss stained street performer surely?Realistic wrote:Most of us can afford it and it means nothing; I give more to a busker in Town. Re: Did you pay £17 for that
I paid the £16.95...
And i was happy enough to pay it, it was a stacked card with a lot of talent on show. I predicted that it would be good value for money.
And you know what? I was right.

Clearly people's idea of value for money varies greatly, so each to their own. Joshua is a multi-millionaire and still streams PPVs

I get shit for not paying my £17.
I should pay that to make him richer and the ballbag doesn't even pay them himself, the humble motherfucker that he is
Re: Did you pay £17 for that
£17 for a sport we on here are supposed to be passionate about as opposed to all the casuals.
Hardly breaking the bank and it was over 6 hours of entertainment.
Millions of people go watch football every week for upwards of 40 quid a match.

Re: Did you pay £17 for that
Ye but thats at the ground, peolle spend 40,60,80,100+ goin to watch AJ at the arena same difference but footy fans dont get charges extra fron usual subscription to watch the match do they? Its like putting man city vs chelsea on for an extra £10 just cause its a top of the table clash, and i bet eddie hearns contract with sky is nowere near 5. Re: Did you pay £17 for that
The point is not whether it was a good bill or whether people can afford it , its the principal of paying for a TV licence, then paying for a SKY Sports package and paying again for a night of boxing. The Open Golf last round is NOT on PPV, the FA Cup Final is not on PPV the Premier League decider is not on PPV, the Grand National is not on PPV etc etc its the boxing. that's on PPV.
Do we ever get to find out how many 'buys' there are?
My understanding of how the money is divided is as follows:
The live gate money pays for everything surrounding the event, purses, stewarding, hire of arena etc etc.
The promoter gets a fixed fee for arranging the event, possibly with a bonus for 'extra' PPVs and SKY pocket the PPV buys plus the advertising.
Come on BT Sport, do them again like the Champions League contract.
