Ruiz hit Parker a lot with the inside of the glove rather than the knuckles. He did not complain about the result.

How about a little respect Brute?

While it wasnt the most high intensity bout Ruiz clearly had more in the tank in the latter rounds.

Perhaps Ruiz should face De Mori to prove his true worth hmmmmm

Yep bang on again Brute. It was all those counters with the inside of the gloves that caused Parker not to commit with his jab or his right hand

Ruiz got some nice elbow work in . I think Ruiz's greatest asset is his chin because he got hit by punches that dropped a ton of other heavyweights

I absolutely love Duco's (Bigger than Ben Hur) events. 4 promoters, 7 fights and 50 (give or take) ring officials (including crap title junket boys)

Parker seemed gassed out in the last 3 rounds, He was there for the taking if Ruiz stepped it up a bit more.

I thought Ruiz gassed a bit around round 7 or 8 and Parker gassed around 10, but Ruiz gained a bit of a 2nd wind.

Personally I had it 114-114. TBH I couldn't complain about the score cards, they also could have gone the other way as well.

Was surprised not to conveniently see a 118-110 WTF?!?!?!? card from one of the judges for the hometown fighter.

Parker looked timid at times and put-off by Ruiz.

I saw nothing from Parker that would entice me to back him against Joshua, even though Ruiz did get quite a few slaps through, countering Parkers left, they still got through, and Ruiz was going as well as Parker at the end, even looking like he had too many pizzas, I thought it could of gone either way, but you have got to keep the locals happy,, all the best

By the laws of boxing only punches with th knuckle part of the glove should be counted.

I had it 116-112 Parker myself. It wasn't much of a fight, but I felt like he got the better of things with his jab and harder power shots over the latter portion of the fight. Ruiz started well, but I thought Parker did the better work overall and deserved the fight.

It didn't exactly raise the stock of either fighter, but Parker's got himself a title, and let's see if he can be more impressive as a defending Champion than he was in winning it.

I like Joe Parker but he needs a lot more seasoning. Traditionally MOST heavyweight peak around 26 years old. Parker needs more fights against guys at least as good as Ruiz. Did Parker injure his hand? He seemed reluctant to throw his right and seemed amateurish when he did throw it. Ruiz didn't impress me much either. He can take a good shot on the chin though. Parker looked like he'd been in a fight with his girlfriend for all the damage he took. There were times I swear he threw punches with his eyes closed. Missed numerous opportunities to hit Ruiz's ample belly. Parker showed he is not a huge puncher and should work on boxing skills.

Wish Joe all the best.

P.S. Ruiz official weight was about 255 lbs.

Better late than never, but I had it scored 115-114 in favour of Ruiz.

Thought Ruiz started off well, forcing the pace, picking Parker off with relative ease. But then Parker found his jab and started stealing the middle rounds. Going into the last 4 I had Parker up, but then Ruiz found his second wind and finished strong. It was tight, with the commentators very pro Parker.

Overall I think Ruiz showed more ambition, and controlled the pace, but Parker was stealing rounds. Ruiz will be very disappointed in the manner of which he let those middle rounds go.

Ruiz should try to get down to 240 at least. He looked gassed halfway through the fight.

The president of the New Zealand Professional Boxing Association, Lance Revill, has quit the position he has held for more than a decade, following criticism from its members over his reaction to Joseph Parker's WBO world heavyweight title fight victory against Andy Ruiz Jr.

Revill was ringside at the fight at Vector Arena in November when Parker won a close 12-round fight by majority decision and was extremely vocal in his opinion that Ruiz Jr in fact won, saying the judges' decision was "bull****" and "embarrassing".

"When I made a comment about Joseph Parker losing his last fight, and I still stick by that, I was getting criticised by members of my own association who were saying 'Lance is out of line' and saying I shouldn't be saying that as president," Revill told the Herald. "Well, if I can't say it as president, who can say it?
