Round-By-Round - Anthony Joshua vs. Wladimir Klitschko - April 29th 2017
Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Wladamir Klitschko
Lennox Lewis has weighed in and gone for Klitscko on experience. I will agree. A few years younger for WK and I’d say a fairly comfortable nights work.
However, if Joshua can keep his game together he does have the arsenal to thrash anybody! It could be a spectacular arrival, but...I will err on the conservative/ reasoned side and say WK.
It baffles me why he apparently did very little against Fury. If he didn’t attack against Fury, why might he do differently against Joshua?

Because Fury turned his instincts against him using feints, footwork, and a reach advantage.magwitch wrote:Lennox Lewis has weighed in and gone for Klitscko on experience. I will agree. A few years younger for WK and I’d say a fairly comfortable nights work.

you could be a ranked beginner and walk in to a boxing gym, put on a pair of gloves and have someone put in front of ya keep feinting like that ,it will upset everything you try doing ,but some people comment and have never done/experienced that

That is what he done different to the rest, but with AJ being a top amateur will have some good boxing skills to go along with his power. He could equally do similar.BitPlayer wrote:Because Fury turned his instincts against him using feints, footwork, and a reach advantage.magwitch wrote:Lennox Lewis has weighed in and gone for Klitscko on experience. Sometimes when a boxer steps up to a new level you see different things from them.
I think AJ could spring a,shock if they were to meet.

Joshua is no Loma, Don't get me wrong I think he could win too, but I'd be shocked if he has some great skills he hasn't displayed, especially when the Breazeale fight would've been the perfect time to show them.nitro5912 wrote:That is what he done different to the rest, but with AJ being a top amateur will have some good boxing skills to go along with his power. Not saying that he is going to morph into a 6ft 6 version of sugar ray and be light on his toes.BitPlayer wrote:Joshua is no Loma, Don't get me wrong I think he could win too, but I'd be shocked if he has some great skills he hasn't displayed, especially when the Breazeale fight would've been the perfect time to show them.nitro5912 wrote:That is what he done different to the rest, but with AJ being a top amateur will have some good boxing skills to go along with his power. Sometimes fighters when in a tough fight suddenly seem to find something they haven't shown before in fights. I think it is possible that AJ could have his best brought out of him by a top class opponent.

Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Wladamir Klitschko
Fury is more mobile and flexible than Joshua, who is pretty stiff, I've not seen Joshua feint, and I don't think he's got the footwork to keep Wlad off balance like that. His best chance is to ram out that jab, double and triple time and follow up with the right. I don't think Wlad has the timing any more to slip shots like that and set traps, especially against a man of that size.nitro5912 wrote:That is what he done different to the rest, but with AJ being a top amateur will have some good boxing skills to go along with his power. Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Wladamir Klitschko
I agree that this is very hard to judge. Wlad might be very close to the end of the road but AJ has a very basic style which Wlad won't have any trouble working out. He was frozen against Fury because he just didn't know what he would do next, was constantly moving and had the height and reach to mean Wlad's jab wasn't the dominant factor in the fight.
AJ's upright jab, jab right hand style won't have Wlad befuddled one bit and he'd fight with much more confidence than he would against Wilder or Fury just because of their unpredictability.
I wouldn't be suprised if Wlad is still capable of the exact same performances he had against the likes of Pulev, Wach & Thompson. All big, upright and conventional.
AJ has more than enough power to put him away of course but how often have you seen Wlad caught flush in the last 10 years to be so sure he can land it?

I beg to differ. He doesn't seem the type to adapt in the ring and find another level.
I think AJ's best will be impressive when tested, but I suspect there aren't too many hidden talents in AJ's locker

Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Wladamir Klitschko - April 29th 2017
My worry about Klit is that he is in his 40s, is coming off a loss and will have been out of the ring for more than a year.
If AJ now was fighting Prime Klitschko, I'd give the edge to Klitschko. But, now I'm not so sure.
I give Team Joshua props though. It's their riskiest fight to date.

Wlad lost the ability to pull the trigger clearly in the Jennings fight.
I see AJ stopping him mid-rounds.

Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Wladamir Klitschko - April 29th 2017
It's really interesting that this poll (and this is of hardcore fans largely) is the exact opposite of betting firms and populist polls I have seen of FB etc.
In fact in some Joshua is an even bigger favourite. Normally this would indicate a big bet worth taking.
However I am finding myself reticent. There's the age, the Fury fight, the home advantage. and most importantly the chin scenario (and Joshua can bang.)
If Wlad had Vitali's chin I would go big on Klitschko even considering theoher factors...but I can't at this point. I believe the prices will even drop lower closer to the contest as bettors get sucked into the hype and bandwagon

My instincts tell me that Joshua, despite his failings, has most of the tools and is getting Wlad at just the right time.
My head however is telling me that things could pan out very differently.

I get your point but Wlad was usually quite a bit taller than his opponents & the style that Steward laid out for him exploited that.
