Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
Provisional placings:
1 - Joshua, Ortiz and Wilder
2 - Klitschko and Haye
3 - Povetkin, Pulev, Parker, Whyte, Chisora...
But at least half of those are up in the air until they fight one another. I'd make Haye the favourite against both Wilder and Joshua (injuries allowing); Joshua the favourite against Ortiz; Ortiz the favourite against Haye; and Wilder the slight underdog against Ortiz and Joshua. Get the fights on and let's find out, 'cause no-one knows.

There isn't one
Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
Coin say they're looking at Deontay Wilder down the road, both have a strap both young and unbeaten American v Brit away you go it will be a bonanza.
Got to jump through some hoops before that though.

Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
Just reading back what I said, you might wonder why I've put Wilder above Haye when I think that Haye wins that fight, with Wilder also my underdog against the other two. It's because Wilder's much taller than Haye, and that might just be enough for him to keep Ortiz at bay. Whereas Ortiz is a nightmare for Haye if Haye can't hurt him. Wilder can't match Haye for skills, but he can certainly match him for power, and crucially, he can fight from a much safer distance.
If Haye gets to the top it's likely he'll have to fight Ortiz or retire, and I really don't fancy his chances in that one. But on the other hand, besides each other, I make Haye the biggest threat to Joshua and Wilder on account of their vulnerabilities. Ortiz has the power to scare them but not the speed.

Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
Wilder is way quicker and much bigger.
Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
Haye will fight Bellew ... That's nowhere near a ranked World Heavyweight fight.
Buys a couple of notches but not enough .

but I don't think anyone needs to fight Ortiz to get to the top.
Fury is still considered the man by many and Wlad is the last dominant champ.
Wilder, Joshua and Parker now hold the belt, with Wlad having some sort of control over the WBA and Fury in effect the champion in recess
Any of these 5 names provide the paydays, the belts and the recognition amongst the majority of boxing fans.
Ortiz will do well to get a real shot here, he won't be anyones first shot and as long as he keeps putting in sub par performances against B & C level opponents, he's doing nothing to push his own case for the top fights

Neither were the guys Fury, Wilder or Joshua fought on the way to their titlesEvander wrote:Haye will fight Bellew ... That's nowhere near a ranked World Heavyweight fight.

Parker isn't on their level IMO, but one thing he can say, is he earned his shot better than any of these guys
Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
Reason they signed Ortiz was likely for 2 reasons, he's a ranked fighter big man with a good record.
They letting him sit to make sure he's no threat to Joshua until then.

Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
That's exactly what Hearn's doing. I'd back Joshua to beat Ortiz, but it's a big risk for minimal gain, as we know. Ortiz isn't as good as Ibeabuchi, but he's turning into this generation's version.Evander wrote:They letting him sit to make sure he's no threat to Joshua until then.
What we can all agree on is that when these fights happen (when!), they'll be very welcome.
Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
He's making it legit with Klitschko, that's a good fight.
Be a great opportunity for the broadcaster to try and outdo the Klitschko walk in against Haye and show some creativity.

You'll have a double manicure this week.
Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
I know alot of fury nut huggers are on here but thats my opinion, that title fight between him and klit was worse than haye vs harrison, fury got hit with a shot in the last round must of been the first shot he got hit with and he was still hurtin from it (his words not mine) a week later so imagine if wilder hit him or AJ? People need to stop getting uptight about other ppls negative opinions on fury. Anyway title of the debate is who is no.1 heavyweight, fury hasnt fought in over a year so he is not even ranked,he shouldnt even be mentionedStuarty30 wrote:Sorry mate but, what a lot of pish!thechump wrote:I dont rate him as the best heavyweight,i think in a rematch klitachko would of beat him but apart from that wilder AJ browne andruiz jnr would beat fury imoKiller Blow wrote:I suppose Fury but I still don't think he's the best heavyweight.
Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
At the moment it probably has to be Wlad. It'll be a definitive answer after he fights Joshua.

Haye has always avoided fighting tall heavies, with his only win against lump Valuev. Ortiz would be perfect for him, although trumps him for range, is a bit of a plodder and Haye would be in and out, without having to reach too much. Joshua and Wilder though would be a different proposition, as he had with Klitchko. He gives about 4 inches to both of them and would have a problem with getting close. He wouldn't be able to load up on either and be restricted to 1-2 combos.
Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
Iv said in the past that haye would beat joshua and my reason for it was haye is too elusive but as u say he had problems even touching wlad and wlad is like a robot sometimes,he doesnt like to engage but joshua doesnt care what your throwing or what your gonna do he only cares about what he is throwing and what he is doing. I think joshua would hurt haye really bad,i still believe haye could knock joshua out but he wouldnt be able to land a shot to do it.Rob3_142 wrote:I don't understand how you've got Haye beating Joshua and Wilder but not Ortiz?Grilling Machine wrote:Provisional placings:

Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
The problem with Joshua for Haye is that Joshua is very tight defensively, and he's started to develop an effective jab. Not the best, but against a shorter opponent effective. Haye would have problems closing the gap, and finding openings, while trying to avoid anything coming the other way.thechump wrote:Iv said in the past that haye would beat joshua and my reason for it was haye is too elusive but as u say he had problems even touching wlad and wlad is like a robot sometimes,he doesnt like to engage but joshua doesnt care what your throwing or what your gonna do he only cares about what he is throwing and what he is doing. Parker doesn't impress on the eye but he's young and his wins over Takam, Dimitrenko and Ruiz Jr are as good as any other heavyweight this year.

Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
Fury is embarrassingly overrated by wannabe boxing hipsters. You can find them on here or most of those YouTube uploaders (Bayloric being the worst). Still, he would have no problem dispatching the likes of Ruiz and Browne.thechump wrote:I know alot of fury nut huggers are on here but thats my opinion, that title fight between him and klit was worse than haye vs harrison, fury got hit with a shot in the last round must of been the first shot he got hit with and he was still hurtin from it (his words not mine) a week later so imagine if wilder hit him or AJ? Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
Not sure they're really THAT much better than Joshua's opposition to be fair. And I still think it would be strange logic to rate Parker higher on the basis of Takam being possibly better than Martin when it seems very hard to realistically make a case for Parker in a fight between the two.PredatorHayds wrote:Parker doesn't impress on the eye but he's young and his wins over Takam, Dimitrenko and Ruiz Jr are as good as any other heavyweight this year.
Re: Who is no.1 heavyweight
Out of Martin, Breazeale and Molina, only Molina has any kind of pedigree. I think it's kind of irrelevant though as I think Joshua beats all Parker's opposition and visa versa. Both have picked up world titles without fighting world level opposition. Parker is still very young, and still has some growing to do, but if he stays on the same course, I feel he will get there. Think he's well supported by a good team.dirk2686 wrote:Not sure they're really THAT much better than Joshua's opposition to be fair. Just playing devils advovate as he's fought good opposition this year.
