I'm quite indecisive about my list. I'm probably going to put Mayweather in there, I just don't know where yet.
I do have my top 3 sorted, but the rest is a bit of a head melt. SRR 10, HA 9, SRL 8...
Let me think on this some more, before I put up my final 10.

I wonder if he thinks Griffith is better or worse than Tommy Hearns though?

Maybe it depends which Griffith shows-up that night.

so does 5.Emile Griffith beat him on points?

I would assume 7.Emile Griffith loses by devastating KO

I really like Tommy Herarns but do not know how you see him in top5? I ask those who are in the top 5.
I do not see how this for the top 10 is very doubtful but at the top 5 is not impossible.

Carter mugged Griffith no doubt - I am not sure a welterweight Hearns could have overwhelmed Griffith, maybe.

OK - certainly not unrealistic - though his chin was always suspect

what I find funny about Hearns is that he is one of those fighters whose career is best defined by his (few) defeats (over 67 fights) - putting aside the late lost to Grant, Hearns record reads: lost and drew to/with Leonard, lost to Hagler, lost twice to his personal nemesis Barkley - when that is all the negative you muster about a fighter, then you are calling him great.

Something in my gut tells me that the great Emile Griffith could pulled it off. He was a very strong welterweight and could fight. I don't trust The Hitman's legs in this fight. The longer the fight, the better for Emile.

Also the great Kid Gavilan beats Tommy in my view at welterweight.

From 154lbs and above, though, I'll pick Tommy to beat both. He will win comfortably.

Of course he did - my point being he is one of those odd characters where you don't have to talk of his successes to denote greatness - you can talk of his failures and the greatness still shines through - maybe I don't know how to express what i am trying to say.
