The above is so true. Hearn and his UK fighters get what this thing is about and they are carrying the sport right now. If Brook does take this fight and can say that he fought GGG and Spence Jr. back to back, win or lose, Brook is the man. American fighters are way too concerned about being undefeated (another repercussion from Floyd). UK and European fights are more about being in big fights. That's all they care about and that's why the best fights are coming from across the pond.
IF. He had nothing to lose vs GGG, other than getting his face smashed in. Khan could have done what he did for a few rounds too....until he got KTFO, or his face smashed in.
Brook moving to 154 may look like a good move on paper, but does anyone thing he could beat Andrade, Lara, or Jermall Charlo? I doubt it. Charlo maybe.
If Brook doesn't face the risky guys, he's a ducker, he's scared to lose
If Brook does, he had nothing to lose, still no credit given
If Andrade, Charlo, Spence Jr don't fight the risky guys, they are being avoided, it's them the world is scared to fight
If they do fight them.......
Well there's your big IF. Because they haven't and they've got forums full of people making excuses for them because they are the ones being avoided.... apparently, they're the ones that guys like Brook and Canelo and GGG are steering clear of while they are more than willing to get in the ring with one another, it's effing comical.
Brook, Smith and Khan have got in the ring with challenges too big to cope with and each performed admirably and took the fight to their opponent before inevitably getting stopped and each has been accused of cashing out, taking the "low risk" option of fighting guys that were almost certainly going to knock them flat out.
Canelo's faced some of the best in the sport and gets called the biggest yella ducker of the lot and GGG consistently calls out any realistic challenger or title holder at 160lb
Some good stuff here and interesting take. It is strange how public opinion varies so greatly from boxer to boxer with similar circumstances. Prior to this GGG fiasco and vacating the MW title like a batch, Canelo was THAT guy doing it the way it should be done. He took Lara on when no one else did and Kirkland was rather risky imo as well. But this one all comes down to money and not courage IMO. I think when we finally examine the facts with Canelo/GGG drama in the end, we'll find out how this had nothing to do with Canelo. I'll even say that it's lead to some strife between Golden Boy and Canelo.
It can't be fun to be the most popular Mexican fighter in the world and be called a pussy every day for ducking a fight when it wasn't your decision. I think fans are doing a good job not letting up on this one. There has to be a point soon where Canelo will have to sign on to fight to be done with already.

You made it sound like Canelo is Oscar's puppet. If that is true, he deserves even more criticism. He is the one who is a huge draw, not Oscar. He should be able to push his own agenda or leave DLH. Oscar should be afraid to lose him, not the other way around.

Canelo is the employee and Golden Boy the employer so you do have it wrong. These boxers are locked into a certain number of fights and blocks of time contractually and most don't have as much say into whom they fight against than you think. Honestly, if you are looking at this as a business and Canelo as a corporation then Golden Boy is doing exactly what they should to get the best return on their dollars. Sure it sucks for Canelo to be called a puss everywhere he goes but he's Boxing's top draw now. He's got to be just as careful as Floyd was in the position. If Canelo fights GGG and loses as we all expect then his value is cut in half. His earning potential takes a huge hit.
Canelo is still selling out wherever he fights and he's just cracked into PPV on his name alone. If I were managing him, i wouldn't even put him in the same room as GGG much less a ring. Not until that flower buds...anything less is a bad business decision IMO
I wish Brook would make up his mind and either give the belt to Spence or fight him. Mandatories used to be extremely important to him. Its not like Khan will fight him above 147 if he takes that fight. He will look bad if he fights someone else like Khan, the weakest chin in professional boxing. I understand it will be a big seller though.
As far as Canelo vs GGG, I think they will fight in the fall of 2017. It will be a good fight. Canelo has the tools to be very competitive, and the favor of judges to get the decision. Some may think I am nuts but to me it is nearly a 50-50 fight. GGG has a style that Canelo does well against. GGG should win, but I would not be surprised at all if Canelo does.
